I would go for the Ion. Cockers are good mech's but the Ion just has it beat it almost every catagory. For the same price as the Cocker you're getting a lot more... like different modes of fire, Pds etc.

Meh, I'd say an Ion. I'd rather have one then my 'cocker, if I could get them for the same price. If you're looking at new, deffinately go Ion.

Heyya! Autococker. The path to high-end really exists...but for a plastic-bodied marker, there is no high-end path. It will always be low-end electro. The Ion has two things over a stock 2004 Autococker: speed and anti-chop mechanisms. For $30.00, you can get a JAM Bolt which is more effective than an eye because it can't be covered in paint and paint and bolt colors don't affect the operation. The other thing is that the Autococker is not a fad. It hasn't exploded on the scene, you know what you are getting into, strengths and weaknesses. Unlike the Ion. A good knowledge base hasn't been established fro the Ion. Good luck! |

Dude, trust me, I've owned a variety of 'cockers, and you want to go with the Ion. 'Cockers are a dying breed. They may have a path to the high end, but there's a reason you see mech 'cocker owners selling their guns when they buy e-cockers: e-frames are way expensive. With an Ion, you just chuck on a new trigger(if you don't like the stock one), a new barrel, and a new regulator, and you've got a great gun. If you want to buy a new 'cocker, you're looking at about $500 for either a custom type 'cocker(like the ANS GX-5), or an upgraded ProStock. You can get an Ion with a Halo B and a Crossfire 68/4500(all new) for $600. Also, the Ion will be a lot faster, which does count to a certain extent in today's paintball scene.
Price wise, the autococker simply isn't an effective option: $450+ for a used base model, whereas you could pick up a totally maxed Ion, with all new gun and parts for that much. Even as a big 'cocker fan, I vote Ion. |
