Hey guys new to the forum here, I hope it's active. Alright well I got a 98c, have had it for about 2 years now and am getting close to finally being satisfied with it. I a woodsball recreational player and i need a few more upgrades id like some feedback from people who potentially have a similar setup. Here is my current setup
Now I know half of you are screaming "GET A AGITATOR YOU MORON!" Yah well im going to... I just don't know what to get... the Halo B is an obvious choice cause it's one of the only loaders that can keep up with the R/T and I like going high end so when i get a Diadem or Shocker I can switch it over... but do i NEED this fast of a hopper... what else will keep up with the R/T? Also I hear the Halo B is so fast it sometimes double feeds on weak detents... is this a problem I will have? Also don't suggest a QLoader cause that thing looks f'in retarded lol. And Ima get a 5" or 6" drop forward. Other than that, can anyone think of anything else I should get? Besides sticky grips... maybe a stablizer or expansion chamber but... that's expensive for minimal(?) performance increase... like i said im close to being done with it... what else can I do to finish this gun off so i can buy a new one to play with? What's everyones opinion of the flatline? I mean I assume with the Halo B and venturi ill never break a ball but what happens if I do? Feedback pls!!! PLEASE!!! Edited by Houndish |

The evo II should be able to keep up fine. You can tune the RT to not shoot as fast also if you are having chopping issues. Never used a halo or empire B. Also I would save up for a compressed air tank, especially since you have the RT. The flatline is pretty pricey still, I'd get a N2 tank instead. Crossfire, 3A, and Centerflag make good tanks. Btw, Welcome to the forums! Edited by Raptor |

I've got an evolution II on my gun (98C with RT), and it keeps up pretty good. The only thing you want to make sure is that you are using a good paint, otherwise it may chop.

Nice I love fast responses on forums. Thanks for teh welcome too. I use Diablo paint simply cause it's the only brand my fav. local shop carries anymore, they dropped PMI, didn't ask why. Do I need new internals with No2? I didn't think the 98c came prep'd for low pressure. I think Ill stick with C02 anyway cause Ive never been convinced that no2 is any better and the carbon fiber tanks are ridiculously expensive.
**edit ok I did some research HPA is obviously the way to go. Specially in the upcoming freezing new england winter. Damn those tanks cost so much tho... hrmm. Edited by Houndish |

The nice thing about using HPA is that when you are playing in the winter, you get more shots from a tank of HPA than you would with CO2. Remember, HPA is a compressed gas and does not go into a liquid or solid state like CO2. Your best bet is to go with an HPA system unless you have yourself an expansion chamber or a Palmer stabilizer/regulator (it works with both CO2 and HPA).

$350-$400 beans for a 88ci 4500 psi tho... is there anyway around this? I mean I'm trying to look at the long run tho, where when I go tourny pro I can just carry my Halo B and N2 tanks over to my new gun but... GODAMN that's alotta money... and jesus a backup tank is out of the question... will HPA work "out of the box" tho? Like it works with my existing drop forward and hose and what not and i simply have to screw it in?? If so I may just make the investment...
** lol im not getting any work done today, doing ALOT of research. Ok so it's apparent now to finish off my gun I need to get the LP Kit and N2. Anyone got an idea of where I can get or how much this package (98c LP Kit, 88ci 4500 psi tank, regulator [brand?? suggestions??]) for? But I haven't read a bad review about the LP kit... plus the accuracy, no ball breaks, and fire power from the R/T... seems too good to be true. I guess this is why Tippmann's are the most customizable best bang for your buck gun that you probably won't play tournies with lol. Edited by Houndish |

$350-$400 for an 88/4500? where did you find that? most of the ones i've seen, carbon-fiber wrapped, are like $250.

Just spent 20 mins on the phone with Joe from Showtime paintball... he basically talked me down from a HALO B, he says that the you won't be able to shoot the R/T past 12-15bps with any hopper cause the side feed design is inherently flawed and will still break paint. Therefore a $65 12v Revvy and lowering the R/T is all you can really do... any thoughts on this? Also he was saying the Palmer Stab is going to need new LP internals (CVX or some **edited**) to work with the Tippy and not void the warranty... anyone with alot of experience with Tippy's w/ R/T's your advice will be greatly appreciated. Remember, Im mostly a woodsball player that is sick of breaking paint and wants more accuracy with less ball breakage so i can shoot my friends faster and better. Also, is it worth sinking all this money into a big bulky Tippy? LP Kit + N2 + Regulator = Heavywhen you can get a similar Spyder Pilot that can rip with the best of them and has the benefit of direct feed. I hate talking to the paintball guys they make me second guess everything I want to do. Joe tried to sell me a Spyder over the phone LoL... I almost bought it. |

a ricochet apache will load faster than the max of the rt. they are really cheap (REALLY CHEAP) at paintballoutlet and actionvillage and are around 44 -54 bucks there right now for the smoke ones. A rt can go max at about 16 bps but thats about how fast a tippmann can go without making incomplete cycles anyway. Just port your feedneck by drilling holes in the back of it (you dont want them in the front incase u get hit there) or get a direct feed for the tippmann and you SHOULD be able to get 15 bps with that fine (apache loads like 19 bps and way better build quality than the viewloader loaders like the evolution).

oh and the normal palmer stab works on hpa or co2 tippmanns (i have the stab on my co2 tippmann) hpa is still usable with the gun if you just screw it in. and ur gun will not be low pressure unless u buy a low pressure kit so you dont need to do anything to the stab. If you are going to stick with co2, you can dual reg (a male and female reg) and get one of those battery powered heating pads to wrap on ur co2 tank (theyre kinda hard to find). Dont get those instant heating pads cuz you cant control the temp and they will be too hot making ur gun shoot at high velocities. (COld tank =low velocities that wont go up Hot tank=high velocities)

Wow that Smoke Apache is dirt cheap. I'd be a fool not to get it. It must be hideous lol but I don't care Ill paint it. Oh I don't need to buy an elbow for it do I? It'll work with my 98c elbow right? Last question about the Ricochet, is a rechargeable battery superior to a disposable one? Also you said drill a hole in my feed neck, is that the same as the elbow? What does this do, are you referring to some trick mod that helps me shoot faster? If so do you have a link to article that tells how to do this/what it fixes, I'd love to see it. |

When you drill the hole in the elbow you allow gas to escape instead of pushing the paintballs up the neck causig you to shoot before a ball is fully inserted. You can go to

WHOA! Wow, that pro shop guy is feeeding you quite some crap. You do not need low pressure to use Nitrogen, which is N2, not NO2. NO2 is Nitrous Oxide which is used in cars to deliver more oxygen to the engine in order to fuel the fire. All you need is a high output Nitro tank (needs about 800 psi). You don't need the palmer stab or any reg with Nitro unless you intend to lower operating pressure. The stock velocity screw will do fine. You can purchase a vert feed adapter for the 98C, but I can't remember the site just do a search for it (vert feed 98C). The R/T has been documented at 20 bps by warpig.com, but thats without paint. Purchase the vert feed and the Nitro tank. You should only need like a 68 ci /4500 psi tank, that comes close to a 20 oz CO2 tank.
Drilling a hole in the neck allows excess gas during firing a place to exit, instead of travelling all through the hopper. The reason balls chop (mainly) is because excess air sucks the ball in the breech upward slightly, and the front bolt hits it and CHOP!. They only need to be small holes, but a vert feed will fix the need for mods like that. My advice to you, don't trust "Joe" so much. You'll find they like to add bias in everything. He's basically trying to either sell you a bunch of crap, or he's trying to discourage you from upgrading your current gun and selling you a new one. He's out for the money, not for you as a returning customer. Ask questions here first. This is a very active forum (if you didn't notice) and we'll be glad to give you the good answers. Trust me, go to the maintenance forums and poke around. A lot of guys there (including me) know what we're talking about, and I can assure you that you do not need the LPK or Reg/ Stab if you buy a High Output Tank. Careful though, some "high" output tanks are set at 700 psi, and you need 800 psi. Crossfire tanks have recently been putting out only 700 psi. |

Alright yah ive read http://www.model98.net/ and I got alot of useful tweaking tips to get my baby humming. Man I thought I knew alot about my gun but after today I realize there's so much more I can do. My Upcoming Setup - Will Have Pics Shortly
Does anyone see anything I may have missed or is there ANY item ANYONE would remove/replace. If so please say why. Im almost done with my Tippy, besides some custom body milling/mods there's not too much more I care or need to do. As for the Palmer... with the Male it goes right into the VA and your braided steel hose goes right into that right? So it'd be ^Vert. Adapt<--^Palmer<--Hose<--Drop Forward<--Tank right? So a shorter hose would be more aethestic it seems. Also with the stablizer, I open my velocity all the way correct and then set the Palmer to around 500-600psi or whatever gives me 280 fps? I just don't know how to know what the output into the gun is... I didn't see a gauge on the Palmers, just on the Fatty. **Thx LordJov for the advice, he did seem pretty adamant on selling me a new Spyder and was awfully quiet when I stressed my initial investment and current satisfaction with my 98c. If you could regear your comments to a C02 system that'd be great! I just don't want to go Nitro (cha-ching), considering I got more C02 tanks than I need. LoL on an unrelated post my message box is double spacing everytime I hit enter or begin a post LOL HELP!!! These forums are great tho, I'll stick around and help where I can with the FAQ's.
