Ok, I found another use for the JCS folding stock and replaced it with
this older Opsgear Spetznaz AK stock. I also took off the red dot
sight and used this weaver rail with a little modification to make it
work. So far I've just done the flat black, no drybrushing yet. I want
to get the gun right first. Thanks to the parts box, I think it's starting
to look pretty good. What do you guys think?

nice, but it would be better with some actual custom work.  Make it look less like an A-5 and more like an AK.  Cut the overhang off thats infront of the mag (dunno what to call it), and try to make the A-5 body less curvy.

Some do. I had a real one that had a completely black composite
stock and hand guard. It looked awsome! I should never have sold
that gun.

You know, it's beginning to grow on me too! I'm thinking less and less
about weathering it at this point.

Try weathering it and losing the drop.  It's very nice as it is, but there is a little room for improvement.
