Hi everyone,
I thought I was the only one who had stripped their valve threads. Turns out there's a whole bunch of people in this forum that have the same problem! I stripped two of those suckers already - yes, with loctite and screwed it in gently - and was wondering if anyone knows whether there's an aftermarkt model available somewhere. Made out of something more, let's say ROBUST. I don't have any problems with my Model 98 Custom, besides that stupid valve which is giving me a headache. I appreciate your help. |

Nope, no aftermarket valves are available. Just don't torque the bolts! Screw them in enough so they aren't hanging out- threads don't seal by tightening the screw, only the head of teh screw could create a seal. But, it doesn't, the TEFLON TAPE you wrap around the threads does.

Thanks for your answer.. this time I won't even bother getting them in tight, just so that (as you say) they don't hang out.
Odd, that looks like a powertube, not like a valve. Does it come with one, do you know? |

That my friend is not the valve in question....that is the power tube inwhich the valve is located inside. |

^ Yeah, that is a powertube, which has nothing to do with any threads (other than velocity screw). Unfortuantly there are no aftermarket valve bodies. But If you know a machinist, you could get him to make you a new valve body out of stainless steel. Or just ask someone at a machine shop to do it for a fee. But it wouldnt be extremly cheap. The valve body is relativly simple to make, but SS make it more to do. |

Then I'd get a patent and start selling it in masses! haha
Anyway I just used some teflon tape this time, shot about 20 rounds; seems the tape is coming off, weird! Will it have a negative effect on my marker if those screws aren't in that tight? Even without screws the powertube seems to be sitting in there pretty snug already anyway. |

The powertube will sit fine, the problem with those screws is that all they need to do is stop the valve from sliding around while the rear bolt is pounding on it. The threads may already be stripped if the teflon tape is coming off during operation. Not having them tight is not a problem at all, as long as they're in far enough to hold the valve.

i stripped my valve threads and it made it leak but I put one layer of regular white teflon tape 2 layers of yellow gas teflon tape and some teflon paste on the threads and screwd it in really tight and then wraped yelloe gas tape on really tight around the connection and it stopped the leak i agree that those valves are a **edited** |
