I want to know from field owners & players what they think on the subject of blast boxes. should they be manditory for all fills, CO2 & HPA? A blast box is a metal box covering the air tank when its getting filled. If the tank goes "boom", it will incase the explotion/fire so no one gets hurt. blast boxes have been used for years for testing of new firearms before shipping. they are not hard to make. |

They are not nessisary if you know what your doing with filling a tank. you have to do something pretty stupid to make a tank explode. however, with that being said, they never hurt. if your not totally sure that you or whoever is filling it isnt gonna blow up a tank and kill themselves than a blast box is fine. |

hpa tanks are pretty hard to blow up from the way it seems like you fill them... im not sure if this is the way it works or not but this is the way it seems like they do... they can read your gauge and they over fill it a little and when its kinda over filled they release the valve and the excess shoots out

this is for co2 not hpa.
i fill co2 tanks so i would know. a blast box is a good idea, but if you filled a co2 tank without a scale and did it until both tanks had equal pressures the small tank would not blow up if it were going to do anything its burst disc would just blow out. the thing with co2 is it has two forms liquid and gas. when you fill a small tank from a large tank it fills it with liquid co2 wich is very cold, now if you filled it until they were equal pressures and heated the small over-filled tank the burst disc would blow. i hope i have been of help ![]() |

Burst disks are there for a reason and tanks can hold a good amount more pressure than the recommended amount. I doubt that fields will have something that fills HPA tanks more than what a HPA tank can hold.

First of all there would be no FIRE from a tank rupture. Second of all, its not even neccassary. I have never read about a tank rupturing during filling. The burst disc would go off way before that would happen.

there can and has been from a HPA tank. some idiot put oil on the valve right before they got it refilled. it blew the valve off and the tank went flying. that could have killed someone. if the tank was in a blast box it would have stayed in there instead of going who knows where. heck if nothing else put the tank & gun in a strap that is mounted on the table. if it does blow the strap would hold it down.

Yeah i heard about that. Madrid wasn't it? After that Hpac wont let me fill my tank cuz im under 18.Probably isn't a bad idea but its a pain in the ass for me. Unless you're an idiot then blowing a tank is pretty hard there are safety measures already in place. I dont know what pressure the tanks are tested to but it will be higher than you can accidentally fill it. And burst discs and whatnot. But you can never be sure some eedjit hasn't oiled up his reg or done something stupid. |

Also note that it was a Stako bottle that "ruptured." Said bottles are not DOT certified in the US because they don't rip down the side like all of the DOT ones do. But in the UK, they are legal, so it's a legitimate rule they pput in place. |

It exploded because the oil cought fire inside of the tank and exploded the tank, a burst disk would not drain the pressure fast enough |

Arnt the STAKO bottles a lot lighter than bottles we get in the US, or is that some Russian company.
