Yes, at most fields there is a chronograph that you shoot over to find out what your FPS is.

There is a machine called a Chronograph that tells you the FPS. All fields should have one, but you can get yourself one at almost any Paintball shop.

Well paintball goggles are rated for at least 300 FPS, so if you shoot someone in the goggles and they break your going over 300 FPS.

NO! You could really hurt someone. A good Chronograph costs about 100 bucks I think. But that's less than ther hospitall bill if someone is bunkered by a gun shooting 400 FPS. |

No problem. You can even get Chronos that will tell you Balls Per Second, too. Those are awesome.

You can find some of the really cheap ones for like $50, but I'm not sure how easy they are to use, or how accurate they are. If you got one of those, I'd suggest a lower speed limit, maybe 280fps. Still fast enough to get breaks and good distance. Actually it wouldn't even be noticeably different than 300.

Yeah whats with the signal? Anyways, if you play woods you should be at between 270-290. I think most speedball fields run at 300, not sure on that tho. Anything above 300 and your asking for problems. Also enforce a 10 foot min. for shooting another player (courtesy rule) if you get within 10 feet of someone give them the option of giving up, but if they turn to fire at you then you light them up, But keep your shots low towards the feet. You dont want to ruin a fun day of paintballin by putting one in the throat at 10 feet away. Also dont blind shoot. Blind shooting is putting your marker above or around a bunker without looking at what you are shooting and for Gods sake NEVER take your mask off while on the field. Maybee you whould goto a local public field and play a few rounds to know the basic safety rules before you start your own field. Did I over endulge? Anyways, have fun and play safe. |

Study the Chronograph carefully, people have mistaken their fps to be too low or too high and there is a right and a wrong way to chrono yer marker as well and if I could copy and paste that diagram from another forum I would but, it wont let me. |

Most fields make you take 3 non-hot shots, not just 1. |
