Ok, this is a little weird. My A5 (specs listed below) began chopping paint, but in a odd way. I would begin a game and fire half a dozen shots before a ball would break--this happened every game. The strange part is that I would take off and clean out the flatline and the thing would start working again, no chops until I started the next round. Some people send it was the ball latch and others said it was an o-ring. Anyone know what is going on? PS: I use Blaze paint, never have had a problem before and I ran a search but couldn't find any relevant posts. Thanks for any help. |

when you fire off that dozen shots, is it all in a string?
What it sounds like is that you havn't cleaned or lubed the cyclone properly. Causing the cyclone to slow down and not keep up with the gun. Oil the cyclone ram next time you take it apart. Also if it is available to you. try some grease like shocker lube or something and put that on the internals of the cyclone. |

There could be a few things doing this. The Cyclone may not have been maintained like The Guy mentioned, the paint could have been a little soft, or something like the ball latch missing and balls rolling into the barrel before you play, then while you play its kept under control. Open your gun up and take a look for anything odd/ missing.

..um.. ^^ like they said.. and maybe the velocity... Check it, put it about 285ish or so, that is a cool amount for the a-5 w/flatline/blaze paint.. If thats not it, I would suggest puttin like 2 drops of oil in ur asa, remove barrel and hopper first of course.. and fire about 10 shots or so, wipe excess oil, and that should oil up cyclone, valve, etc.. It thats not it, disasemble the gun, and check ur ball stopper, maybe it has a shell on it or something, that little shell, can cause a big mess.. |

Besides all that, you should remember that not all paintballls are exactly the same size, this is a very common problem wit every batch of balls regardless of the brand used...this is one of the problems you will encounter when a ball/s is chopped.

Hmm, look at your cyclone Very closely if you can , you could have a part wearing out , I played a few games with Cadet-Sergeant , and he had a similar problem , it was this small insignificant looking part that had caused all his problems in his cyclone , the pro-shop guy spotted it and had it going in about 30 seconds flat .

maybe u dont have the upgrades for the cyclone, or something is broken and needs to be hit against a tree a few times.

cyclone sprocket. Take off the bottom plate of the cyclone, and look at the "gears" one piece grabs teh sprocket (should be clear, this wears out), sprocket itself, spring (reletively strait jobber) or possibly one of the piston o-rings. Those wear as well. When you put the bottom plate back on the cyclone(check to see if there is an A on the bottom for new version), be sure not to over torque the screws, or they will poke through the plate of the cylone and balls could chop on the points. What also helps: take some 600 grit sand paper and smooth the edges on the right reciever half where the balls make contact. i.e. the finger and hole edges. Should take care of your problems.

Had the same problem.. Sent it in to Tippmann... they said I had worn out o-rings where the bolts are and they also re-sandblasted my flatline....

where were the balls beraking at? in the cyclone? or in the barrel? or
they were breaking in the barrel, then you needed to clean it out
better. wash, out the inside to that no dirt or grit or oil or paint is
left what so ever inside. i don't know why the first one broke. but
whenever i break one. i have to take the flatline off, and really wash
it out before it works right again. i actually boil mine to ensure that
nothing gets left behind. take the shroud off first of course. it does
no harm.
