Honestly, the bore is just this side of frikken' huge on the minimag barrels, that could be part of the problem. You might try the nail polish detent trick on the opposite side of the barrel as a secondary detent. You could also snag a prophecy or another programmable force-feed (weren't some of the aftermarket halo board programmable?) and turn the force down some, they don't feed as fast that way, but you should be able to find a happy medium (and honestly, most of them can feed plenty fast at a reduced force, they're just set up to feed 20bps or something stupid out of the box, 15 consistent bps is still great, and much easier on the paint).

Nice collection, especially the e-mag. I'm glad that fiasco ended up working out to your satisfaction. (If it did, and I'm really sorry if it didn't. e-mag lowers being molested seems to happen all to often...)

I wish I could find another centerfeed stainless body. A good friend of mine lost the one I had. I'm still bitter.

I take it you must be on AO as well?  What's your AO tag?

It could be the barrel, not sure. I have some other barrels I might try. Right now, it's pretty far down on the totem pole of getting working right. I did just pick up a Cheater though, so who knows. It was my original intent to Pneu it, but I might decide to pneu the blue/nickel one instead.

I really haven't gotten the chance to use either of the CF bodies yet, just dry fired them. If they don't work out, I'll look you up ;)

Yep, under the username Daze. I saw the thread and hoped that someone would treat you as a customer, and not as an accuser. Can I ask if you're happy with the way things worked out?

I wanted to see what your name was before commenting about the experience. But honestly, no I wasn't really. In the end, I got refunded $30 which was basically the cost of the anodizing for top and middle pieces of the battery case. I didn't get the impression that he was willing to do much else and honestly, I was so sick of the situation that I kind of wanted to move on. I also saw the backing of AO kind of creeping away when I said who it was which was why I didn't unload on him to begin with. I didn't see it going anywhere if I continued to push. I wasn't going to get new lowers out of it, and the last thing I wanted to do was have anything reanodized considering how sloppy it fits toghether as it is. All the grip screws are blue loctited in place or they come loose when I shoot. I had to put epoxy in the magnet hole in the rail, and the trigger pin is essentially superglued into place. I also have to put a peice of hockey tap into the slot on the back of the battery to snug it up enough that it doesn't rattle around.

I'm glad your gear is at least usable. But it might have worked out better for you if it wasn't. Botched anno jobs are always a pain to deal with.

I was unhappy in my dealings as well. Early on, any complaint I made was met with "he's a good guy" by half a dozen people, towards the end of my complaining, only one or two would out and out defend, but no one went out of their way to side with me either.

To be fair though, to me he's a businessman, to the group there he's a friend. We're coming from two different places, and most of my conflict with the fan club seems to be stemming from that.

I'm interested to see his barrel kit when it comes to market. But I won't bite until after a review by a neutral third party. Definitely won't be on another of his pre-order lists.

I don't get the feeling he would have manned up and replaced the lowers if they were unusable, so I am glad they could at least be used. I have a suspicion of what may have happened, but it is only speculation. There simply was too much material taken off for one stripping job. I suspect that possibly a mistake was made ot the color or something else and they were restripped and reanodized again. One reason I say this is another guy that was having his done at the same time had some simliar issues. I almost wonder if they weren't mixed up. The lowers that I sent had the origina ano on them when I sent them to Lukes to be bead blasted. I must not understand the process, because I don't even know why they would have had to be stripped again considering they were bead blasted when I sent them to the anodizer.

If you don't mind, what issues did you have? Was it with anodizing or taking forever to deliver his custom parts? It seems to be an AO curse that anything pre-order takes at least a year to get completed.

My main issue wasn't the order taking forever (although that was troublesome(but like you said, expected on AO)) but the complete lack of communication. Someone would ask for an update, and then another one, and then I would have to be a jerk and point out that it's been a week or better since an update has been asked for, but you've logged in each day since, so whats up? I got told that (paraphrasing) "I don't check my for sale threads everyday" and, eventually "I don't see a reason to give an update if nothing has changed, so I'll give updates when I'm good and ready".

There's a host of things wrong with both those excuses coming from someone trying to start a new company, nevermind actually using them publicly to a customer. The fan club, however, keeps any useful customer feedback tainted.

I don't know. The foregrips seem to be going quickly and smoothly, so maybe he's at least figured that out. A little more customer service training and maybe it'll be alright.

Yeah, I was pretty put off by the length of time and lack of communication. I was given a 4 week or so turnaround time.... which went to nearly 6 months. On at least two occassions, I was told that I would have my parts back by a certain day, and no communication even after that time passed. I would have to email 2-3 times and leave phone messages towards the end to even get an email back. Sometimes, I still was not getting answers and asked Big Evil to help. And even he was tsk tsking the guy for the way the job turned out. I think one of my final "irritiations", was that even after all of this, he never would disclose who the anodizer actually was so that we could avoid him.

As far as the special projects, I think there is too much reliance, at least for bigger ticket items, on the pre-order/pre-payment idea. It is incredible to me that people have put money down on the MicroMag2k9 almost 2 years ago, and still have nothing to show for it. And this is from a very reputable, long time veteran of the industry.

Oh, I'm in on that nightmare too. I'm taking an eternal break from preorders after this.
