Finally, I borrow a digital camera so I can get pictures of my gun up here-- a year later. It has enough home-made mods, and jerry-rigged parts, but is a rock-solid contender. I couldnt ask for better.
The digi-camera isnt the greatest in resolution, but it gets the job done. I even have to use a serial cable to upload the junk!
Heres another go, this time, the full monty:
It has an X-Core Expansion Chamber (best for the money, I tell you!) a 12" Lapco Bigshot (last of the old-threaded barrels) JCS Folding stock (used) DYE Sticky 3 (cut in half to make it fit around the C98's wider-than-standard's .45 frame), complete with a GTA double trigger, I also have one of Evil-98's custom adjustible blade triggers. I cant use it on a ruled game, because the saftey will not work. As well as a Reactive Trigger, and an Empire Reloader to match (keeps up in all but the most stressful of situations, once again, best for your $$) And what gun wouldnt be complete without a... County Paintball Plug! I bought at least half, (or $350 worth) of my culmulative paintball gear there. There is no place better. Now here, we have views of both sides, with Red-Dot sight, and stock extended:
For the sake of resolution, I cut off part of the gun's barrel from the picture. Dont bash the sight unless you've used one, if you dont like it, fine, it works for me. (I remember this being a hot topic before I was forced to leave) Also note that the rear sight piece is removed, as its useless with the dot sight, and blocks view. The stock has a hole drilled in it for a sling, because it lacks a standard sling loop. I dont use one... yet, and I didnt do the drilling, the previous owner did. Its really amateur drilling, I tell you. And now, the world from my eyes:
I'm not really left-handed, but I needed to use my right for the camera. The gun is also REALLY darned heavy with my weak hand/arm; especially with a full 20 oz. tank. To conclude; Its my opinion that the true meaning of paintball is about improving your own skills, and building a gun around yourself. Theres enough things on my gun most of you dont like, but it works for me, and very well at that. I'm not a speedball person. I creep through the woods in my camo and track people down for a single kill. Ive done more to the internals that I cant show you in these pictures, but its enough polishing and such things with springs to make things easier. Edited by CidHighwind |

I kinda like it. Simple, yet effective. And definantly original.

Righteous. It looks good for what its used for(tearing things up). My only thing though is..don't people see the silver when you are in the woods? I'm not flaming or bashing, but it seems like it would be a target. Besides that it looks very nice!

No point of the stock, cause the tank is a perfect stock.

I got the JCS used from on of my paintball buddies that got a M4 Commando Stock (hes BIG on scenario guns). And he got it from his cousin. His cousin did the drilling for the sling. It has a big history, and only cost me $20. Most of the finish is intact, and the mechanism works nicely, and is well broken-in. Just the way I like it.
Using the tank as a stock puts the gun sights above my line of sight. This is a problem, because of the red-dot. It puts me eye-level with the side-cock. I should know, because when I was new to the sport, and my gun, I got pegged in the cheekbone with it when firing once. Live & Learn. People CAN see the silver. The silver has a backstory, though. It was the last C98 left to buy at the local shop, and the biggest game of the year was coming up the next weekend-- I didnt wanna miss it. But, when behind a bunker, only my barrel sticks out. Behind a tree, the gun is at my side. In fact, the gun is at my side until I wish to fire, or I know I'm seen. Ive wanted to repaint it, but I also wanted to make I would only have to do it once, and wanted all the parts for it. I never did buy everything I wanted (or it would look more like MILKMAN's gun). So it never got painted. BUt its not terrible, as it isnt very reflective (the black parts reflect more than the silver). Its better than the guy out here with a chrome Silver Bullet. He can signal aircraft with it, I bet. MikePunk-- The sight was $25 from Wal-Mart. Yes, Wal-Mart. It wouldnt fit one of my REAL guns, so I put it on here. Its a BSA 30mm. It fits 5/8" rails. The C98 has a 3/8" rail stacked on a 5/8" rail, so either fits. The problem with this sight is, one of the screw-clamps sat too low (where the 3/8" is) and I had to totally remove it to make it fit. Still holds tight. Edited by CidHighwind |

Probably. I dont work at Wal-Mart, so I wouldnt know exactly, but it should be in the Sporting Goods section, around the guns. Just ask someone that works there to show you where the Gun Sights and Scopes are, and if you still cant find it, ask for a BSA Red-Dot sight.
