Apple is probably the better choice... Windows XP
just loves to freeze, get viruses really easy, and are
very wierd 1/2 the time... sometimes a Dell will work
great but others, it will just sit there and freeze up on
ya.

Pros? Best OS in the world, massive stability

Cons, have to wait for games to be ported. But most poplar games are ported, its not like macs have NO games.

I too am sporting Apple's.

A G3 ibook and a G4 PC. I don't use the G4, but both are incredibly stable. If you don't game much, then a mac is a good choice.

The only con that comes to mind is the price. But it's the old saying, you get what you pay for.

edit: give us a bloody price range.

I am also behind the fruit(Apple).

I have an Apple G3 PowerBook and an off brand 1gHZ AMD.  I use the Apple more.

Don't be affraid about learning to use OS X, it is so fricken easy, and relibable.

Go with the Apple, you won't regret it. (I wish my parents would consider getting an new Apple)

Seriously, most of you are just jumping on the Apple bandwagon because you hear Enos or someone else say how good they are.

For average home use a PC is fine. I've had a grand total of ZERO severe virus's/crashes on my PC

Everyone in this thread who is talking about apple owns one, except trogdor, but nobody listens to him anyways.

If you're only gonna be using it for schoolwork/internet surfing, then you may as well get some pre made dell. They work fine, and won't break the bank.

I'd so own one already if OS9 didn't suck, but I must admit Im in love with OSX, so i need to get myself a G5

You should get whatever you and everyone else is comfortable with. It really is just personal preference if its a general home use box for the family.
