Hey all, I just got this pup. Shes like 10 weeks old and just came from a home where she pretty much did what she wanted so I'm trying to train her to be good. Anyway, I keep her in my room cause she has to go out at night sometimes but she keeps whining like radomly through the night and wakes me up like every 20 minutes for no reason. She doesn't want anything....it's really tickin me off and its really not gonna fly when school starts up again....Anybody know any good ways to get her to stop?

you have to let her get used to her new surroundings. it may take a while. just keep doing what you are doing and keep at it. its a big responsibility to own a dog. its just like a baby. just be happy its only gunna be like this for a week instead of a couple years like a baby.

Ignore her, and dont keep her secluded in one room. Let her get used to her home. If shes in one room all the time shes going to want to get out and go elsewhere. Get her a dog bed and put it in the most active place in your house, that way she can lay down with people around her and she will get the attention she needs/wants.

Ignore her, or else she will learn that whinning gets her attention.  Let her wander the house, and walk her around the perimiter of the yard a few good times.  Pay attention to her and play with her as much as you can to wear her down for bed time.  Let her sleep with you but if you do keep the door open.  Is she house trained?  If so, yeah let her sleep on your bed and what not.  If she climbs on the couches, put tinfoil on them and it will scare her off.

I wouldnt ignore her fully. Yes, she does want attention, just like a child would.

I like the idea of putting her bed in an active room.

My dog just sleeps on my bed. Just ignore her when she whines, although sometimes she will whine for a reason but not that often. I would also suggest taking her to a vet if you haven't already.

except if u get tired of a dog there are pounds, humane shelters, .22 rifles, etc.

No im jk i love my dogs.  i have 4 of em.  just keep doin what ur doin and dont pay attn to her.  but also dont ignore ehr completely to the point where she is messin all over the house and ur not paying enough attn to let her out side to pee.  also be sure to play with her plenty during the day but if she is tired dont force her to play.  puppies need lots of rest.

I just got done training my new dog.  Anyways, first thing you should do, is get her a cage, one that has a divider than can make the size of the cage change as she gets bigger.  Give her just enough room to be able to move around, and get a comfortable position to sleep.  If you give her too much room, she will take advantage of it, and pee or w/e in one spot, and still not have to lay in it.  So basically give her enough room so that if she did do w/e in it, she would have to lay in it.

Now put a small blanket of some sort in the cage, not a new one, but one that your family uses, so she can get used to your smell and things like that.  During the night, put her in the cage in another room alone, give her toys and or bones maybe with a lamp on.  Come day time, leave her out to wander around, but not get into anything that can harm her or destroy anything.

Good Luck
