rifled barrels are more accurate because it put a spin on the ball so it flies more consistanly through the air...i have the empire twister and its AWESOME!

i heard that they make the gun more accurate at higher velocities. he
said that paintballs shot out of a rifled barrel would not swurve at
certain velocities when a paintball out of a regular barrel would. this
isnt true is it?

I believe its not true, cause i do have a twister, but i did see a little increase in accuracy and distance from a J&J.

rifled barrels are no good for paintballs for 3 or more reasons. these are the only i can think of.
thats basicaly why they dont seem much differant than normal barrels. |

Okay, they have done so many test and all say that no bennifit is had by rifled barrels, or for that matter putting a spin on the ball, with the exception of the flatline, and the back spin.
But, with that said, I still love the Armson Stealth. Great barrel, accruate (as any barrel can be), quiet, and I never had an issue with breakage. The breakage is dependant on paint selection, of course. I used ProBall, which tended not to break in the barrel, or the player you shot for that matter. lol. "The good ole days." |

so is a J&J rifled barrels? or does all rifled barrels have to have a certain design to make it rifled?? my thought is, is that its just a scam to try to sell their products more. they make things up or stretch t he truth |

if the inside of the barrel is smooth, it is not rifled. Rifled barrels have groves in them. So no, the jj ceramic is not rifled, i think, pretty sure never seen the inside of one. |

Rifling works on real firearms because the reaction that takes place, when fired, causes a release of heat, which in turn makes the bullet expand and catch onto the grooves (causing it to spin). Since in a paintball there is no source of heat (i.e.- gunpowder), they don't expand on firing, meaning they don't catch rifling very well. Also, you would need a pretty much absolute exact paint to barrel match to get close to a rifling effect. I believe rifling does have a minimal effect on paintballs because the force of the bolt slamming into the ball causes it to deform, making it wider, and thus, catch the rifle grooves. Interesting fact, when a baseball player hits a pitch, the same effect happens to it - for a matter of milliseconds, it becomes deformed and wraps around the front of the bat. |

ok so rifled barrels have no advantage over normal barrels? mainly
because the pintball doesnt catch the rifling inside the barrel?

i called proteam and asked the question, they told me that their rifled
barrel is not smooth and perfectly round. because a paintball, when
shot is also not prefectly round anymore. i don't know what this means,
thats what the "pros" told me. the rifled or smooth where the same
price, yet rilfed, i was told, was better. something about more contact
with the barrel, so the it spins, maybe. when i ask if the rifled was
better, i got a hesatant...yeah...
so that that for what its worth. |
