This news story is a little old but I chose to bring to to your attention anyways. It seem that it just the US that is trying to be "PC" these days.
Citizenship ceremonies go BYOB SASKATOON - New Canadians who want to hold the scripture in their hands as they become citizens will have to bring their own Bibles now that Citizenship and Immigration Canada has told the Canadian Bible Society to stop handing out the books at citizenship ceremonies. athiests should mind their own ***king business. It seems there are more atheists trying to ruin other religions than their are christians trying to indoctrinate people. christians say to people: this is what I believe I want to share it with you... nobody is forced into religion. athiests say to people: christianity is stupid and christians are evil.. they force their dumb beliefs on you.. Who's the real wankers? An america not under god is an america gone under. |

For every athiest you mention in your post there are just as many or more bible thumping extremist who are scared of change and being proven wrong. EDIT: I flew off the handle. I realize not every Christian tries to recruit people and you should realize that you have an obscured view of atheism. I am an athiest because I do not believe a devine being created us all. I don't think religion is stupid. Why whould I think being kind and upholding 10 written laws (I don't believe in all 10) as stupid. I just feel that Christians are more hostile then other religions. How many Muslims offer the Koran to hold when they immigrate to Canada? Edited by Hitman |

I'm a christian and I agree that we should just but out of other
peoples lives. Just tell them about God, and go away. No
more of this nagging crap.

thats right....what was it that they carry? o yea, bombs as the "immigrate" into israel......of course, sometimes they just use planes im not prejudice, i just wanted to point out that more suicide bombings occur than instances where someone is "forced" to listen to a christians preaching |

Yup... I don't see the justification behind this. Unless people were screaming in the faces of immigrants and trying to force them to convert, what's wrong with passing Bibles out? As I read it, you didn't have to take them... Heck, I'd welcome a copy of the Q'uran if someone was passing them out. But that's me; very few people will actually be willing to read the holy books of different religions. And as for the Crusades... that's not really a fair comparison (for the record, neither is comparing suicide bombers to all Muslims... I hate stereotyping as a whole). The Crusades were examples of the dangers of organized religion - one guy tells everyone else what to believe, and BAM holy war. The suicide bombers are the same - misled by their leaders. I don't think Christians (or anybody) should force beliefs on anyone - that leads to corrupted churches and/or revolutions.. not a pretty picture. I just don't see what's wrong with allowing people to share. I do wonder if they would have outlawed Q'urans and other scriptures. I'll believe in the whole bit about treating religions equally when I see some Muslims or Hindus being smacked with legislations as soon as they share their faith (and yes, I know you only rarely see a Muslim or Hindu proselytizing.. just making a point). |
