Hi, i am just wondering what is the best way to clean paint off of paintballs, a couple balls broke in my ball bag and its a mess...Will this really affect gun performance? if so what is the way to clean em...

I've heard of using powder- talcum or baby powder or something or other. Of course, once the powder dries the paintballs you have to wipe the powder off.

Hello, Yes, paint on your balls will royaly mess up feeding and accuacy. I always take a bath towel and spread them out on it, pick out the broken shell, fold over part of the towel and gently roll them around. This work well for overly oily shelled paint also. Hey Jovian, How's it going? Wouldn't the powder trick bond or leave some powder on the balls and make them not as smooth? Wouldn't it also mess with accuracy and leave goo in the gun once it gets any gun lube or moisture on it? Sorry, it just sounds really time consuming and dodgey if you miss any powder at all. |

K thx guys and just a note The Guy, it was me fault i broke the balls in the bag lol i put them in a backpack and something rolled on top of em so uh ya lol....

The powder trick I haven't done for myself, but it's supposed to be a moisture absorbing powder, which will become thick and oily. You let the powder sit for a while, then the powder dries kinda like mud turning into dirt. Supposedly then you can put it in a towel and shake it gently to get the powder off. A fellow at the field told me this quite a number of years ago, and he had a batch of paint where he did this. They looked pretty clean from oil and powder, I don't remember what kind of powder it was or how long it took him to clean them off. The problem with the towel trick is that it is oily residue, and not all of the oils will be absorbed by a towel/ paper towel. The powder trick is supposed to make absolutley sure the balls are completely dry. *edit* Edited by LordJovian |

I usually do like Liquid and roll them around on a beach/bath towel.

Get a large box and line the inside with paper towels. Dump paintballls in about 200 at a time. Lay some paper towels on top and roll the balls around with your hand on it. Then dump out the clean ones and load in new ones. This is what I do. Works great.

i don't, did it once and the ball swelled and broke because it was too
large. basically every type of weather can make a ball swell,
includding if its dirty. you must get it perfectly clean to use it
again.

Thanks for the info Jovian. Now the powder trick just sounds really messy. LOL Trigger's box idea but with a towel (it's a save the trees thing) sounds great. Why have I never thought of it before. Duhhh...... always have empty paintbox laying around..... Millslane: Most people I know only ever clean balls when they break in the bag not when they hit the dirt. The saving $15 so you can run grit through a $500 gun and ruin it is dumb in my opinion. All paint seems to have some amount of oil on them (stating the obvious, sorry) so I always figured a slight film is ok. |
