(OICW marker, not OSCW) Woodsball needs a revolution, or at least something new in markers. Sure, we got scenario M-16's and sniper rifles and all of that good stuff, tricked out with scopes, farther shooting barrels, etc. Well, between the years of 2006 and 2008, the United States Army should be deploying new front line rifles, currently and experimentally called the OICW, or M-8. As a tribute to our armed forces, Tippmann should come out with a new marker similar to this model. Its kind of cool looking, and tippmann could preinstall an f/x sight, a stock, and everything so that the product is cheaper, more compact, and just looks plain out cool. Go to google.com (or look below) and look for a weapons history site or type in OICW to see what this marvel looks like if you don't know what it already is. What do you guys think? Meh. I would have rather seen them give the OICW (same makers of the P90) a shot.

Shoot. Honestly, your right. I remeber it being spelled the OSCW, but I suppose that it is called the OICW. It looks like this (I might get in trouble for this...) I'll edit the forum so that it's OICW. Thanks a lot for "correcting" me.

I agree that we could use variety in the kits for milsims. I've seen way too man M-16s, M-4s, MP5s, and G36s. Not sure if I like the looks of the OICW, but at least it would be a start.

Oh, you accually ment the OICW. I thought you were talking about the Xm8
http://dboy.cpgl.net/USA/oicw/xm8_still-life.jpg Which is going to replace the M-16. The OICW was an Army project that got scrapped. They started getting rid of all thier Cold War projects after they got them working. Projects such as the Comanche helicopter. |

I don't see why would anybody want to play Paintball with the OICW. It's too bulky. Also, this has already been stated, but read up on the OICW and the XM-8. They're total different guns. Edited by stratoaxe |

it has 2 different magazines because it has 2 different barrels which would also indicate 2 different kinds of ammunition. The fact is unlike someone stated before this isn't being scraped in fact they're is alot of special forces units testing it and it will be used for selective use not as a standard rifle like some say. the bottom part is basically like a m16 it has a 5.56 magazine( front clip in front of trigger). the Bullbup part is the 20 mm grenade launcher which is pretty niffty in how it fires, i forgot all the details, go to world.guns.ru for more details and look it up. |

"bulky? original models may have been bulky, but new experimental models are smaller than M16's" He's talking about the original OICW concept-the one pictured on this thread. The new model you're talking about is the XM-8. That's not what this thread is about (there is a thread on that, too though).
I can't imagine hauling that around with a hopper and Co2. I thought the SAW kit was ridiculous... Edited by stratoaxe |

The M08 is new developed concept based off of the efforts of the OICW isn't it? the M08 (XMO8 specifically) is sort of the smaller version of the package. But yes, that is what I meant (sorry if I wasn't specific). The OICW and XMO8 are nearly virtually the same, except that one is big and one is small, thanks to current technology. And the reason I mentioned the saw stock... We need to see some real good SAW kits Here's a pick of the better version of the OICW, the XMO8. Okay, it's not as bulky (this things smaller than heck), but both models would look cool though. X08, OICW, whatever, they both rock. picture on: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/images /xm8-poster.jpg

That was the earlier version of the OICW. The latest seperated the grenade launcher from the 5.56mm rifle. There was talk of just issuin the rifle, which is based on the G36. However the Army in the past year decided to open up the competition again to other manufacturer besides HK. The OICW sounds cool, but it's still way to big and heavy. Sure it might be lighter than an M4 with every add on, but I don't put everything on my M4 or M16-A4 at once. With the M203 you cna't mount the bayonet or front grip, and it takes up the space on the bottom rail.
