I am fixing several Pro-Lite's and a 98 for a friend. I completely stripped one of the Pro-Lite's to see how it worked, and to clean it. Now when I put it back together CO2 just runs straight out of the barrel of the gun. I tried replacing all of the O-Rings with a kit..and had already cleaned it. I am not sure at this point what else could be the problem besides the CA-V valve being broken...and I am not sure how I could tell if it was broken. I got the other Pro-Lites working without totally stripping them and cleaning them. I just replaced the spring and an O-Ring. <I was out of air at the time I stripped the first gun, so I am not sure if the air just coming out of it was the original problem, or not.> I am worried that I am re-assembling the Pro-Lite wrong or messed it up somehow when I took it a part. It seems like the forward part of the Valve is being kept pressed in. Will this happen if you overscrew the reduction fitting into it? Any other ideas of what could be wrong? Or how the valve is being kept pressed open?

well this most definatly sounds like a valve problem. Double check that all your seals are in place still.

When you disassembled it and put it back together, did you notice a small (about 1/4" X 1/2") flat piece of metal under the front bushing that the lower receiver screws thread into? This flat piece of metal sits on edge under the bushing and in a recess (or cutout) in the upper receiver. Its purpose is to limit the forward and backward movement of the valve when firing. It's easy to not notice this piece during disassembly, and it can fall out and get lost. That may (or may not) be your problem.

Yes. I noticed that myself after I made this post. I then got excited and thought I had it figured out..gassed it up...and it is still draining air out of it. If it isn't cocked it goes out the front..and if it is cocked it comes out the back by the bolt... The CA-V valve must be broken on it...or likely the spring inside of it is worn out. I can't think of anything else that would cause this problem. |

You can call Tippmann and get a new valve ($30).
