i bought another stock a5 off of ebay in fairly new condition and it didnt have an oring on the barrel, my gun is out for maitnence and i cant check if mine has one or not.

Nope; (A-5) stock barrels dont have o-rings.

The 98 Custom stock barrel has an O-ring. The A-5 is a better gun, wouldn't it have one too?
