Just curious to see what the CURRENT opinion is on this. I have a 98c but I'm thinkin of dumpin it for a a5 egrip. Like i said, i like Woodsball more than speedball, but there is an indoor speedball field like 5 minutes from where I live so i play there quite often as well. Also, If you select other, I would be curious to know your suggestions.

if you already have a 98c theres not much point into getting an a-5.
just stick with the 98c and upgrade it or get an ion if you have hpa, a
fast hopper, and the money.

I think the only REALLY needed up is a new trigger and ASA- an on/off and roller trigger prolly $350 for a new ion, used hpa tank, and used egg |

Really? wow, i thought the A5 would be the better choice because i wouldent have to get a new hopper, i would have the Tippmann durability/customer support, and also, simplicy in taking apart/cleaning is really important to me.. I only used an ion once and thought it was ok. also, size is really not a factor to me.. Im pretty big anyway so a few inches on the gun will not make much of a difference.

Also, i really do not need to be able to shoot 32564564654bps... I would get teh egrip so that i would be able to keep up with some of the others, i dont necessarly wanna try to break any speed record with it... another key issue i forgot to mention, i would want to run co2 through the marker (more for woods than speedball) I heard that ions do not accept co2, iis that tru?

well, isnt the e-grip at 15bps? the ion is capped at 17, so not that much of a differnce |

ions do not like Co2, and people don't buy them just for how fast they can shoot theres ALOT built into it thats makes it better then an a-5. it seems like your set on getting an a-5. but i think your better off on upgrading you 98c, unless you realy like the looks of the a-5 better. |

Yea, the whole CO2 thing would be a problem, I would def. need to be able to run it through the marker

Then you will want a CP/E or an A-5E.

Ill probably go with the a5 egrip... the ion just does not seem like a woodsball gun at all to me. Also, I hear they are rather difficult to take apart and put back together. The only thing with the egrip is that im afraid that it would break easily or something

Its weird, I never really thought of an ION as a woodsball gun...., then again, I've only used one once.

Idk, usually when i play speedball (rarely) everyone has ions.... the place even rents them, as opposed to the tippmanns they rent at the woods ball place... idk, the ion seems more fra-gile-ley to me.

If you play more woodsball than speedball keep the 98 because them are built for sniping were the a-5 is built for speed. For the poll I put a-5 just because thats what I have and because I like that gun exept for the cyclone feeder

Go with the A-5 E-grip. the A-5 is much better for woodsball. and as you said, cleaning/maintenance is important. the 98 is a pain in the rear to clean, however, the A-5 makes this task much easier and painless. also, for woodsball, the A-5 you don't gotta worry about debris getting inside you gun threw the rear bolt... on the A-5 everything is inclosed, it makes a much better woodsball gun than the 98. also, it comes already with the cyclone, so you don't need to upgrade with a better hopper to keep up with the E-grip.

you couldn't be more wrong... a stock ION is way more accurate then a stock tippmann. even full upgraded an ION is more accurate. an ION runs on HPA, has a reg, better stock barrel, and is a closed bolt marker. tippmanns can be upgraded for anything, but are manly used for rec ball, or woods ball. also you might never want to say the word "sniper" on these forums again. |
