Anyone remember that show? It pwnt all in it's day. Turns out they still do it, but it's not televised. Dang. Anyway, to get to the point, there is a high school division called Battle Bots IQ. It's an educational program where high schoolers, such as yours truely, build and compete in compitition. I'm trying to talk my school into doing it, or at least something on those lines, since we already have a robotics club. Meh. I just felt like sharing and digging up memories. Seriously, how cool would a school sponsored Battle Bot be!? Edited by DeTrevni - 18 August 2006 at 6:29pm |

Sweet show indeed. Me and a friend got all of the criteria and were designing our own to mess with. Building ceased after the show was ended.

There was too much BS in the show, I wanted to see the robots fight all the time. Interview those people got kinda old.

Do you have any ideas what you are going to build? Or do you need some ideas? The best way to sell anything is to have drawings or a model to show them. Tell them nobody has everbeen hurt it is completely safe. I had an idea but never built it. It was going to be a combination of a turtle shell with a bottom spinning circler blade and a helicopter on top. Good luck and have fun just don't forget to take some pictures and post.

Newb. People did get hurt in the garage area back in the day. It is not child's play. Also, everybody and their mom had an idea. Nobody starts off building something fancy. You start off making something that goes foreward, and backwards. Then you go on from there. |

I loved that show. I was a big fan of Toro. It would often flip its opponent completely over, keeping them in the fight while scoring points. And it was fast as hell. When it would clip an internal hose it was screwed.
I'll never forget the Son of Wyachi vs. Nightmare fight. Wyachi having horizontal spinning hammers, and built as a walker to make the weight requirement. Nightmare being a huge vertical saw on a tripod. It was going to be a one hit fight, and the odds were against Nightmare. Nightmare ended up in pieces after a single hit. Then, when Wyachi fought Biohazard, the flat titanium one, it was a slugfest. They beat the hell out of each other, and were almost down for the count after Biohazard lost a skirt bar and Wyachi's hammers were in pieces. Biohazard won when it was able to twitch forward and miss the count out ahead of Wyachi. Good stuff. |

Styro, Mechadon rolled into a ball and the center legs hammered down. Not a really great attack, and always seemed to lose, but it was THE biggest crowd pleaser to watch that thing roll around and smash something. Tae, thanks for the offer. I might need some tech advice. Welcome Guest, yeah, I've got safety all thought out. Since it's gonna be for school, there would be size restrictions, and I'd have to say, no spinning objects, AKA gyrobots, spinning hammers, blades, or saws. We wouldn't want to lose control of that...
Oh, and for the fun of it, Megabyte vs. Biohazard. Sparks will fly! EDIT!!! I freakin' found a vid of Mechadon. You HAVE to watch this if you haven't seen Mechadon in action! ^^^DO IT! Edited by DeTrevni - 19 August 2006 at 1:04am |
