QEV releases eccess gas...(sorry about my spelling)...which gives you more shots per tank...a Regulator regulates the pressure going into your gun...basically controlles the pressure...

the QEV' kind of a dark area for me too... i don't understand how expelling excess gas could decrease gas consumption...
