Very nice, only part I'm not a huge fan of is the Graphics card, but, it's a laptop, so gaming ain't your first priority.

Whats the weight on that bad boy?

True, however I will be getting into graphic art and 3d design.. besides, this computer will be with me on vactions too, that powerful of a graphic card is GREAT for playing Half-Life 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 on the go  The bad boy weighs in at about 4.36 pounds.. very light, hince the screen size it is a small computer but packed with power which is why I got it.. If you look at ANY other 12.1 inch laptop on the market, even fujitso, they are nowhere near as powerful or fast as this one. P.S. Why did you say you aren't a fan of the graphic card? the 7400 is VERY powerful and it's the biggest one I can fit into this computer.. I love ATI but I will admit, they are HORRIBLE with notebook graphic cards so I'm stickin with Nvidias 7-Series which so far, I have fallen inlove with.

I can't believe you had to the nerve to pull up a bland mac lol. And the one you showed me has the Core Duo.. not the Core Duo 2... did you even read before you posted? Less space..13.3 inch.. don't want that either..Where's this power that you were talking about? I don't see anything besides the intergrated crap.. And what do you mean bad move if I'm going "Design" What you just showed me proved nothing..

Are you really that dumb, or are you just pretending?

You said you were getting into design, etc...yet you bought a 12" laptop to do it... are you daft? You said that no laptopp out there of the same size compared with power....last I checked, thats pretty damn close. A bland mac? Let me guess, another blindly faithful windows fanboy?

The 12" is for the portabilty that I stated above dude, design wise that screen is fine, I have delt with Macs before and even owned a powerbook awhile back, I am not fond of them. And no what you showed me is not, MAC dosen't even HAVE the Core Duo 2 which means battery battery life and better performance\speed, they are also very bad with gaming. Designing wise as I stated before, 12.1 is fine, you don't need a massive screen to design buddy, ability lies in the software and in the person USEING the software. Some people MAY need a 15 inch or bigger screen, I have a 21" LCD DVI right here if I ever need one.. doubt that I will though

Then obviously you dont know jack. 12" screens are just frustrating for anything design related. I would not step below 15" for anything, and whenever possible, use a second monitor as well. Obviously a bigger/ 2nd screen doesnt make you more talented, but it decreases frustration, and increases efficiency. You can optimize your work area much, much more easily. Heck, the fact you're doing design..and dont like mac... Get used to it buddy.

I really hate people who believe macs are the only answer to graphic design, that has been proven wrong so many times and only people whom are mac lovers will make that big of a claim. The whole REASON I got this computer once again, was to have a very small, powerful, portable computer with very good graphics and battery-life. Designing should not be hard at all I will judge that once I get my laptop in my hands, either way I can't start 3d-art design until I get past these laughable classes which I am required to take to advance. So It'll be about a year or two before I'm allowed in those classes anyway. I personally believe a Tablet PC Would be best for design.. they don't make those small though. Now, ignoring designing, That M1210 as I will once again say, is the most powerful 12.1 inch laptop out there, Until you can prove me wrong, Dells claim and my claim on that is standing

Hrrmm, forum ate my post?

Much as I hate Alienware they have a decent (albeit overpriced) laptop out.  With duel Nividia 7900 GS 512MB cards in SLI, a Turion 64 2.4GHz, 120 GB SATA HD,  Windows XP Pro, and 2GBs of DDR RAM for $3200 or so.

Link

Granted you dont really need SLI in graphics design it would make a nifty gaming laptop.

No, I fully understand why you'd get a 12", powerfull computer with an OS you're comfortable with, thats fine, I agree.

I dont see why you'd complain about portability of 15"...if thats too much for you, thats kind of sad. I also dont know why anyone would ever do anything remotely graphical further than using clipart while wordproccesing on a 12" screen. And sure, you can design on PC just fine, have fun with that, but I'm saying that as far as anything in that field goes, mac answer, and industry standard. Trust me, I've competed nationally twice for graphic design, and its Mac Mac Mac Mac Mac.

Nah, it's not too much at all, I'm coming from a 15.4 Inch Thinkpad G-40.. which is you know that laptop, you know it's a tank. Sucker weighs in at about 9-10 pounds if not more. However, I wanted a VERY small laptop this time, but I wanted one with lots of features. I know most graphic design studios agree that "macs are best" however windows machines work fine.. and I am quite curious, if Vista can turn the tide over to Microsoft.

They are getting alot of their ideas from apple, that's a given, HOWEVER they are adding loads new stuff.... Somehow I doubt Mac will "always" be the leader in graphic design. I've always hated their customer service (so many problems with the Ipod) and I just have another few gripes bout 'em

Are you kidding me??

Their customer service is awesome. I had a disk drive die on me, I walk into a mac store and hand them my powerbook, an hour later I come back and walk out with a new drive in it. Dont have to sign anything, pay anything, nothing.

My friend orders a mac pro. The shipping is going to be slow, cause they have to customize each one. He complains, since its a bit longer than normal, so they give him free express shipping.

I forgot to register my applecare, and went to register it the other day, but it'd been over a year since I bought it, so the site wouldnt let me do it. I call them, they forward me straight to the admin who takes down my serial # and applecare number, plus my info to verify its mine, then boom, registered and covered, no hassle.

My experiences with apple support/ customer service has been nothing short of awesome.

Alot different here in Atlanta... To fix my friggin' Ipod (which messed up four times in a year) I had to wait about 4-5 hours each time, and of course, they acted like they were able to fix it and just slipped me a new one instead which failed as well.

My ipod messed up once, it would turn itself off on me mid song. So I did what the support said, plugged it into my mac, ran the mac program "disk utility" and clicked "repaid" and boom, no problems.

no no i am enjoying this. chewp got his ass schooled on the power argument. and i think revo is correct, screen size isn't everything and that 12" looks far more portable than my 15" hp.

oh chewp, show me where system restore was in 10.1, same for the mac equivalent to flip3d and your dashboard... imagine this, apple is using features from other os's now too. wait, that doesn't mean they are innovative anymore.. damn.
