i hace a 98 custom with a RT, as most know a RT can firer alot quicker than a gravity feeder can feed. i heard fom a friend that a RT and a cyclone on the same gun some times does work right. which should i get electronic hopper or cyclone?

The cyclone works very well with the r/t. I have that combo and it works great for me.

...Rossy you just said the Cylone works very well WITH the CYCLONE
What he was trying to say was that yes, the R\T works fine with the Cyclone.. I have an R\T and no problems at all with the Cyclone.. then again my gun is an A-5.

I would get the a elec. I know every one thinks that the r/t and cyclone don't use any more co2,air, or nitro but they do in the long run. Let me explain, yes the r/t and cyclone work off the blow back, but they both allow you to shoot more and faster do they not? there for you shoot more paint. More bolt travel= more use of power source!

so the tell me, how does an R/T + cyclone shooting at 12 bps use more air than a R/T + halo shooting at 12 bps? remember: if i took the R/T and cyclone off my gun, it would get the same amount of shots per tank that i do now..... Edited by paintballinbill - 13 September 2006 at 1:43am |

That's very hard to explain... the R\T does use more air though I can't even begin to explain why but after I installed it i did notice a drastic decrease in air amounts.. I lost atleast 100 shots. if you remember the power-tube does have a whole for the R\T.. maybe that has something to do with it..? meh I dunno

how many times do i have to explain it? with your stock marker, when you shoot, there is blowback gas. that's just the way Tippmanns work. if the hole is plugged, it just dissipates throughout the gun. if the hole is open, it powers the R/T and/or cyclone. if everything was installed correctly, there shouldn't be any loss of efficiency. |

I checked for leaks, and all of that stuff. I think what it might actually be is that I installed a new stock which might be putting more pressure on my Drive-Spring which = More air usage, however most people agree, Tippmann A-5's or 98's with R\T or Cyclone, do use more air than w\o them.. I could care less though it's a even sacrifice

I'm going to have to appoligize, I thought that Tobert wanted to have his hopper keep up with his r/t. I don't have any expeirence with the cyclone but I assumed that the r/t and cyclone combined would use even more power source than the r/t alone. Because the rate of fire they would allow and would be both functioning from. If he went elec. then the power source of the r/t would be from his tank and the hopper would be from the battery. make any sense? I'm confused!

i understand. i was also surprised at first that both could function from the blowback gas....but i've had a R/T and cyclone on my gun for over a year now, and no such problems yet |

Even if you did have problems.. the R\T is very simple, cyclone is simple just has a couple very small easily loosable parts.. so you could fix them, it's not like reparing an Angel (Which is almost impossible)

Most people are often wrong. The blowback mechanism in a Tippmann simply does not care how many other devices are using the blowback gas. Gas usage is determined by the drive and valve springs, not by post-blowback accessories. Now - many people do actually experience increased gas usage with the RT if they are shooting CO2, since CO2 has a hard time keeping up with very high rates of fire. Shooting fast with CO2 will reduce efficiency. Anybody who thinks their efficiency is reduced by adding a Cyclone is simply wrong. (There are a very few exceptions to that rule) |

"On my 98 custom, I had both an R/T and a regulator. When I set the regulator to the minimum pressure required to acheave 285 fps my RT did not work very well. However when I set the regulator to shoot at 300fps, then used the FVA to bring the speed down to 285, the R/T ran great. This means that the RT does use a little more air than necessary, and so the cyclone will need a little more to. STILL unless you are running a reg at absolute minimum pressures, you'll never know it. " |

its very scientific but an r/t and cyclone does use more gas... it has
to do with molecules and expansion of gases because you have 2 things
that are using gas so it needs more blowback basically... I could go
into the scientific reasons but i suk at explaining scientific
things... but i had and r/t and cyclone then switched to egrip so im
still shooting just as fast but i used so much more gas when i had the
r/t

Meh, until Tippmann actually admits more gas-usage.. which they won't, this will always be a major debate....I'll stick with, YES, the R\T does use more gas.
