Well, ill be making the switch over to HPA soon, and im also considering putting in a reg.  I know most of you will tell me the palmers, but i dont need the expansion capability of it because i never, ever plan on running CO2 again (just saying CO2 provokes nightmares... ughhh).  I want a reg that has a braod capability of reducing pressures (u know, to like bring a high pressure tank down to fairly low pressures, say 400-450 if need be.)  So, tell me what regs do a good job, and which dont, more importantly.  I just want to make sure i get something that i will be happy with on multiple guns in the future.

Also, does the pressure that the regulator is set to a direct adjustment for the velocity?  In other words, to adjust velosity, would i use the velocity screw or adjust the output pressure on the reg?

Thanks for all the help to everyone that responds.

Personally I like the Custom Products regs. They are nice and consistant plus they look good.

If you have a reg taht you can make small enough adjustments to, you can pretty much adjust the velocity with the reg, just make sure to back the VAS all the way out.

o wait ... new question... is the max output enough for a stock non-lp tippmann? if it is not, what reg has a high enough output for a tippy?

1. Flush mount CPs aren;t meant to be fitted with 90*s.

2. Maybe, but not by much. A better reg would be... the Stabilizer. It has an output max of 900 psi.

I just got an Empire regulator working with a classic Tippmann earlier today.  I rebuilt the valve, polished the internals, opened up the flow of the vertical adapter, and that was pretty much it.  I was using the BT spring kit, but I am not sure if that was necessary or not.  But with the Empire regulator, which claims a maximum pressure of 600psi, I had my Model 98 at over 300fps consistantly.
