Very good article, though it contradicts some of the information I was taught about the method used in hydro test. Now I am going to have to call someone still in the business. |

I can't figure out if my tank is to be hydroed 3 years or 5 years after production date. It's an Evil Scion 68/5000 and the tank says that it was hydroed 08/05 so does this mean I need to get it tested August 2008 or 2010? It also says DOT-E 10915

That means it is good for 5 years. According to the little chart beside our compressor anyways.

The firsrt number is the month and the second number is the year the tank was made.

In my opinion, hydrotesting Co2 tanks are worthless. It cost $35 to test the tank, yet the tank itself cost $20 (for 20oz).

WOW. Yeah I'd pitch them too if it cost that much here. CO2's cost $12 to test and Paintball sized HPA (114 and below) cost $18 here. SCBA and SCUBA's cost $26 Extinguishers vary by size. |
