There was a user on model98.org by the name of Custom Pro (unique, eh) who wanted to make a mechanical response trigger that is easily switchable back to semi. I dont know his idea but I came up with my own and want to see if its possible, as Im never getting that rocking trigger I wanted.
I didnt fully cover the switching back to semi, but thats because I dont care, Im not looking to patent this, Im looking to screw around. The picture is badly drawn, but understandable. I put a lot of text but that was more for me than for you. I wrote it out and drew at the same time, it helped me out somehow. So, is this possible? Major flaws, minor flaws? EDITED OUT Heres an updated pic I need to do something with my 98 Custom now that I no longer use it much, and this seems fun, but I dont want to find out it doesnt work all the way through. Try making a better picture. Its hard to tell what is going on, even with an explination. Overall, I would say no. Its much easier and cost effective to just use a pneumatic kit from tippmann. |

Updated Picture
Yeah, sorry, I made it very quickly as a silly idea and grew to like it before I could make it neater. I know I could just get an Egrip, but I found this interesting and thought why not? why just go R/T?
Take a look at the manual scans from the F/A here: Link Read up on how the shock sear and piston assembly works to get an idea of exactly how the F/A delays the bolt long enough to let a round load. I'd love to get my hands on one to have it reproduced in a machine shop with a bolt to match. I'd then have it dove-tailed into the top of an M-98 receiver and find some sort of way to make a selector switch to lock out the traveling sear. |

Tallen, you probably already know this, but your post left me wondering. (And anyway, the newer players who've never used an F/A won/t.) The F/A was select fire. The selector switch controlled how far the trigger could be pulled back. The full-auto trigger pull was longer than the semi-auto trigger pull. With a little practice, the user could leave the selector on auto and fire single shots with short trigger pulls if they wanted and just pull it back all the way for more firepower. |

IIRC, the selector was worked into the safety pin on the marker. Basically two level stops were cut into it for the exact function you're talking about Mack. For the life of me, I can't remember if the sear was longer than a normal pro-lite one or not to allow for the selective fire.

The site you linked doesnt give much, but I have read up some detailed info on it, and though it is amusing and I would like to get my hands on one of these, I definitely could never reproduce one on a 98 Custom, obviously by looking at me. But it would be cool just to incorporate some kind of shock system to the bolt to make it stall enough to let a ball slip in... Edited by TheWarHam - 02 January 2008 at 9:49pm |

I can't either. It seems like the two secondary sears were different sizes from each other, but I wouldn't even swear to that anymore. |
