Hello everyone, I've been playing about a year and have been using a Triumph XT for the past couple of months. I'm looking to get something a little different and have been looking primarily at the X-7 and the 98 Custom Platinum. I'm open to other suggestions but these are the two that I have kinda narrowed it down to. In terms of play...my friends and I prefer outdoor play, but we do hit up indoor places as well. It all depends on when we can get together and how much time we have. When we do play, I tend to be more of a back/support player or whatever you want to call it. Anyone have a suggestion or recommendation as to what I should consider buying? The x-7 is somewhat the high point of my budget. I already have some of my own equipment like a good force feed hopper...n2 tank with remote...a good mask. Thank you reading and thank you in advance for your ideas/information/suggestions. |

X7 is a nice platform... but out of the two, I'm partial to the new 98 Plat design.
While the X7 does have the Cyclone... if you already have a motorized hopper, the 98 Plat would be fine. If you already have any aftermarket barrels for your Triumph... you can use them on the 98 Plat straight away. You'd need an adapter with the X7. Out of the box and without RT/E-grip, I think the 98 has a better trigger-feel. |

I don't have any parts for the Triumph. Everything I have is stock. I won it in a raffle recently and just started using it. As for the x-7 and 98 Plat, I was probably going to purchase the e-grip and an APE Board. Everyone I talk to also suggests buying an upgraded barrel for either model that I buy as well. |

You may want to check out the A5 too. The X7 is pretty much the A5 dressed differently. As for the 2 it also depends on the feel. Go pick both up and see which one ou like the feel of best. If you want a ROF that is higher from the 98 also account for either the cyclone upgrade or a good electronic hopper and centerfeed.

I would also suggest taking a look at the A-5. There are more mods and upgrades for the A-5 and its in the middle of the two guns you are looking at. But if you dont decided on the A-5 and sticking to either the X7 or the 98 Plat I would just let you know this. Depending on your budget when you get your X7 that might be all that it is. No UMP mods or anything right away. With the 98 you will be able to get stuff you want possibly. Just make sure you know your style of play and your needs for it before you go out shelling money for stuff. |

I would suggest an: ICD Promaster ($140-$180... Base model Vs Lasoya). Any gun can be used in the woods (just to preempt the "woodsball gun" comments). The promaster is an inexpensive electropnuematic, that is better than & less expensive than the SP Ion. While ICD nolonger makes paintball gear, parts are still readily available, Vaporworks has taken over servicing/ repairs, and ICD still repairs markers in warranty. |

I second this. If you already have a force feed hopper and HPA there is no point in getting a Tippmann, especially when Promaster's are cheaper and better. |
