I'm trying to fix the eye system on one of my guns, and the new diodes are too long, they hang out into the breech, where the bolt hits them.
Is it possible to file down the front of the LED and receiver to make it shorter. Would it still function? |

Sure, as long as you dont file down into the guts of it, you can see the diode components inside the plastic.
Youll get a rough finish though, and it might not put out as much light unless you can find some way to polish the area you filed down. Try using fine whetstones maybe, Im not sure, polishing plastic down to transparency is a very difficult thing. |

I know that acetone can be used to clean up acrylics, it might work on the plastic.
