Is this barrel really worth getting because I heard sometimes its hard to swab out and is very picky with paint?

once you get it tuned with velocity, and get a decent paint, its well worth it. i have mine tuned just right and it works perfectly. as for the swabbing out part, you can easily find a quick change kit online

No save your money and get a JJ ceramic or a bigshot. Flatline very innaccurate even at close range. I learned the hard way.

my friend has a flatline, you hvae to have the right FPS and it tuned the right way and it shoots literally as straight as an arrow, ive got scars to prove that too

I understand that but the problem is that many fields especially by me only allow field paint so you dont really have a choice of different paint qualities for what is best for that barrel. |

the field i go to uses only field paint and my flatline is still pretty accurate in normal range

generally fields use descent paint so flatlines shouldnt have a problem if its "field paint only" place

Cypher is right, If you plan on playing at a field that requires their paint, you may get stuck cleaning that flatline every 10 shots if the paint isnt that great.. To tell you the truth that is why I bought a 14" Lapco Bigshot from www.countysports.com instead of the flatline barrel. Edited by seal160 - 29 June 2008 at 4:47pm |

IMO the flatline is a great barrel and have used mine for years. I like the compact design and looks of the barrel on my A5. It does have some drawbacks that I was willing to live with to get the shot distance. But I bought mine before the apex was available. You need quality small bore paint-the ball rides on the top surface of the barrel while air rushes under it causing back spin (you probably know that). Ball breaks in the barrel- Its difficult to swab because of the bead blasted surface inside. You have to clean it often anyway because the rough surface gets clogged with the gelatin from the paintball shells. I used water to flush it out. The need to TUNE your gun properly!-Consistency is your friend here as well as your fps. A lpk will help with this barrel but is not necessary. A good regulator is a must though. I know a lot of people have had problems with accuracy using the flatline but I felt mine was pretty accurate even at distances. On the other hand I just switched to the Apex/freak and enjoy better accuracy up close and at distance. It’s easier to clean and I haven’t found a paint it doesn’t like. Sadly I will retire my flatline to the shelf until my apex lets me down.

It has been my experience that a Flatline Barrel isn't any more or less accurate at the same range as a normal barrel. It shoots about as well as my J & J, Lapco Autospirit and SP Progressive barrels. The only time the Flatline didn't compare was when I had a poor paint to bore match and firing at high velocities. |

As long as your using small to medium bore paint the flatline will work fine. With higher quality paint comes higher accuracy, but this is the case for every barrel. The group I play with uses nothing but CORE paint thats $35 for 2,000 balls and theres quite a few of us that use flatlines with it.

I've actually shot a couple of cases of CORE through my Flatline without a problem. Logic dictated otherwise, but I never had a problem. I, however, will no longer push my luck with it. |
