Tippmann A-5

Hi, i was just recently having a problem with my A-5.  The trigger sometimes will not allow me to shoot.  It pulls back, but nothing happens.  If i keep pushing it, then usually it will fire.  I have no idea what to do.  I must have spent a good 10 hours just taking everything apart, cleaning and looking at things.  Hopefully someone can help me because this summer i am going to oklahoma's d-day.  I really want to use it.

As pointed out above, more information is necessary for anyone to properly answer your question.  You should also include a list of modifications/accessories regarding the A5 in question.

Based on what you told us, I suspect a problem with the trigger return spring.  It sounds like the trigger is resetting forward far enough to allow the sear to reset.  When you put the safety on it pushes it just that last little bit forward that it needs.

Do the following test:

• Fire it (in a safe manner but replicating the conditions under which the malfunction occurs)
• When it malfunctions, instead of putting the safety on, push the trigger forward.
• Try firing it again.

If this "resets" it like using the safety does, then the first culprit you should check out is the trigger spring (the one that is labeled "short" in the manual-part # 02-20S)

A second thing to check would be to see if the trigger is binding between the trigger plates or if debris has gotten in to where it hampers trigger movement.
