I went signing at a Karaoke bar last Saturday, and will probably end up at the same bar again later in the week. I was skeptical at first, but ended up having an awesome time. It's a pretty small place, so it doesn't get too loud or crowded. Just enough people to have a good time. Karaoke is a really big thing over here, and you'd be surprised how seriously some people take it.
My set list included: Oasis - Wonderwall (pretty much mandatory) Third Eye Blind - Semi Charmed Kinda Life Oasis - Champagne Supernova The Killers - Mr. Brightside Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Oasis - Cast No Shadow There's a few others but I can't remember them. Yea, a lot of Oasis, but if some of you remember a few months back I was on a 90's kick, and I listened to the "What's the Story (Morning Glory)" religiously, so I knew most of the songs. Near the end of the night, I was eager to attempt "I'm the Scatman" by Scatman John, but I figured it would be a crash and burn failure. It was 2:40 in the morning when I left the bar, so I caught a cab back. The ride was 750 Yen (about 7 bucks and some change). When I reached for my wallet to pay the kind gentleman, I realized, "Oh crap, I don't have enough." I knew I didn't have enough, because I remember spending most of my coin at the bar for Karaoke. For me, this is the worst feeling in the world. I felt like a bum. So, I pull out about 370 Yen, 3 dollars in quarters, and my guitar pick. The taxi driver laughed a bit, so I asked him to drive to an ATM so I could get money out. He told me to not worry about it and took all of my change and guitar pick. TL;DR: I got drunk and sang karaoke and didn't have enough for the cab ride back, and now some Japanese cabbie has my favorite guitar pick. |

Looked it up, time zones are stupid and should be abolished. Make everywhere on earth the same time and let people figure out what time to go to work and to go home.
