Which air type would be best for the tippmann 98; compressed air, co2 or nitrogen?
Or can I you any of them?

Stock Tippmann's work fine on CO2 although there will be velocity fluctuations as a result of environmental conditions and rates of fire. Compressed air provides better consistency with almost any marker but in Tippmann's tends to get fewer shots for a comparably sized tank when compared to CO2. I don't know anyone who uses/fills nitrogen anymore.

Depends on who you purchase from. I get CO2 for 20 cents/oz and compressed air for about $1/1000 psi no matter the tank size. There are also different prices in different situations such as $5 for all day air or special deals on filling scubas.
You seem to be new so I would suggest running with an inexpensive CO2 tank for a while until you are sure you like the sport before investing in anything more expensive. |

co2
N2 aka compressed air
Keep in mind "does your local paintball shop or local sporting goods store fill compressed air" Some places dont and people need to stick with co2 because, thats all that is filled in there area. |

^^^ Correction: N2 =/= compressed air. While N2 (Nitrogen) is approximately 80% of the Earth's atmosphere there are numerous other gasses included in it as well. All of these gasses are compressed along with the nitrogen to fill compressed air tanks.
