a got an a5 that shoots fine on co2. can turn it up to 330plus fps. i no way to fast. on hpa cant get it past 240. ithink i tryed everything to fix. tryed adjusting speed. installed bigger spring, even red one. put bb in
stock. polished inside. installed lighter hammer and even power tube. still lots fast on co2. switch to hpa and looses 70fps. also have to hpa tanks both the same. is this a normal thing or should scrap the hpa and go back to co2.

I made a pressure tester by putting a mini-gauge on an ASA. I screw it on to the end of the tank and know immediately what my output pressure is. It's quite handy.
The reason I asked about output pressure is that since I did this I have come across a couple of tanks that were supposedly HPA but only put out 600-650 psi. When I used one of these on my 98 I couldn't get the velocity above 245 fps. |

Try a first generation A-5 or 98Custom hammer. They are heavier and substantially increase FPS. The early hammer has no insert where the spring is. *I have the same simple ASA tool Mack, the variance in output pressures is surprising. |

i put a gauge on an asa from an other gun. one tank about 690 and other just over 700. !!! is one brand of tank better then an other or what should i do. i dont mind buying another tank but want to make sure it makes enough pressure.
i reinstalled my factory hammer it added about 14 fps. thanks.

my tanks are both ninja. and you can adjust pressure with shims. they say if you take one out pressure will be 650. should i try and add another shim or is this just stupid talk. they both have four shims now

A co2 tank outputs around 800psi, so yeah. Youre short about 100psi.

Have you tried putting back the stock internals?

After reinstalling the stock internals if it is still shooting low put a BB in the end cap behind the spring guide pin.
Actually, before you do that turn the velocity adjuster in as far as it will go, then back it off four complete turns. (On most Tippmann valves this is the maximum it can be turned out to increase velocity. Anything further can result in velocity fluctuations and even leakage during firing.) |

thanks for advice switched all internals back to stock except spring. also added bb to end cap and adjusted velocity screw aprox four turns out. i got a friend with same gun i'm gona start switching parts from is to mine untill i find problem.
i bought my gun used and it was realy dirty when i got it, so i sandblasted the hole thing in and out. is there any chance its too loose inside and would this cause a problem. my bolt and power tube assembly comes out kinda easy. my friend has to loosen case have bolts a little to get his out.
any help would be great, thanks
