In an effort to be a downer, I will outline the feces that has been this month.

First: My car needs $500 worth of repairs done to it to get my check engine light off for an inspection. There was nothing wrong with how it ran, but some stupid censor was clogged and needed to be fixed. Joy.

Then, coupled with the first car issue, we had a grand total of about $1200 worth of one time expenditures which completely blasted our expendable income, and forcing me to look into taking a part time job a few nights a week.

Next, my landlord's bank loses- yes.....LOSES my rent check, so I had to pay him in cash so he could get his bills in on time. It was still only a one time payment, but for half a month, I thought the check had been cleared and there was that much more in my account than there actually would be. Lesson on paying attention to banking details learned. ugh.

Today alone, my fuel pump dies, possibly racking up another $350-$500 on that stupid ass car. Also, I almost killed my brother in law.......his wheel  fell off his car after I did a brake job for him.....I was also working in a school where roughly 10% of their student population was sent home with 'severe flu-like symptoms'

Now, thanks to the funding/car problems, I've had to call off my participation in our annual family vacation to Pennsylvania- something I've been doing every year for about the last 15 years....this would have been my son's first time going on this trip too, carrying on a family tradition. We'll go next year I'm sure, but it would have been nice to continue the trend. In fact, out of the 5 members of my immediate family, the only time ANY of us has missed this trip has been when my brother went to basic training a few years back.

Also, since I've moved to the city of Schenectady, I'm an hour from my old hunting grounds and haven't even had the chance to buy a hunting license yet, much less go out.

And, the Yankees made the world series, and the Giants have lost their last two games (we're getting to trivial matters, I know- but it all counts)

I've still got my health (for now) and our son is doing an amazing job of growing into a fun little kid, so its not all bad, but man when it rains, it really, really DOES pour.

I cannot wait for November. For some reason, I'm looking forward to thanksgiving this year like never before.

on the car issue, if you have a mechanic or someone you know who has a PCM scanner, you can take it with you and clear the code while you wait in line, and you may be able to slide through without them catching it. i know the feeling. my car is getting the o2 sensors and the EGR solenoid replaced for the same reaosn as you

If i were close I could clear it. I have all the tools.

On the topic of bad things, the chick I wanted to date left an hour ago. I drove her to the airport, and she broke down crying about me as we pulled up. Kinda ruined my day.

Thats already been taken care of, I did that too, problem was, even with the light out, it still failed an emissions test believe it or not. I finally bit the bullet and got it fixed.

Oh ok, "inspection" meant emissions inspection. We don't have that here yet.

God, I know all too much about stupid car issues. I was driving back from the ER last night and my right rear tire exploded on the highway, going highway speeds.

Went in, and had to have 2 rims and tires replaced, so I just sucked it up and replaced all 4 at the tune of $500, and for a person who works 50+hours a week at hospital clinicals where I don't get paid, that's a lot of cash.

Look at the bright side, October is only until Saturday night.

My inspection is due by Saturday but I'm holding off as long as I can.

In NY we have some pretty rigid emissions standards, which makes life complicated when the car you're driving has a tendency to suck. (I will never, EVER buy a chevy again)

...And this is why I'm putting off getting a car for as long as possible. I'm glad my city has an awesome bus system.

My Camaro is the best things I've ever owned. Its a 96, has 168,000 miles, and other than tires, the only thing I've ever had to change on it was the alternator and a motor on the driver side window.

In August I took my Blazer in for the brakes and it comes back with the check engine light on.  I take it back to the mechanic and he says that it is a faulty O2 sensor that needs to be replaced, $500 bucks.  So I schedule this to be corrected the following week, drove it for about 100 miles and the check engine light turned off and has never returned.  the Freaking bastard tried to scam me... Hey, next month wil be a better month Reb..

Well, while we're all having a whine-fest....

Last Monday I got sick at work (vomit, diarreah) and had to call in one of my employees (I now manage the gas station I work at) to cover the rest of my shift, causing me to lose 6 hours of overtime.
Last Tuesday I decided to visit my 'rents, and on the way got in the first significant accident of my driving career. Did more damage to the car than was worth fixing, now must buy new car. Thought about, doing "Clunkers," turns out I should have.

So this week I develop a cough, slight fever, headaches, and nausea. H1N1 possibly.
Just to make things better, the owner of the company I work for insists that I be there Monday-Friday barring catastrophic emergency or pre-planned/cleared vacation days. So I've been working all week with swine-flu like symptoms, possibly contaminating upwards of 300 people per day.

Hey remember back at school in Oneonta when the officer pulled me over for something dumb and asked why my little ranger at the time was registered in Florida but I still had a NY liscence. I basically told him my truck wouldnt pass inspection and you thought he was going to nail me hard with a ticket. That was a fun time. Basically any state that has emissions testing sucks a big one. I don't care who makes the vehicle. The emissions problems to seem to be more common in Chevy and Ford vehicles. Gotta the the so called "American made cars"
No worries reb things will perk up they always do. How is the part time job search going by the way.
