   Hey im new to this so correct me of any mistakes. i have a tippmann 98 custom and would like it to look more like a "sniper" . i need a new barrel too. witch barrel would be best for distance and accuracy and what length. i was thinking of a 16 smart parts tactical. i already have the flatline for my a5 but want something more accurate. is there any internal upgrads that would help. one more ? is there any good home made mods for accuracy.   thanks

	Well, I'll go ahead and say this: In paintball, you can't really play the role of a sniper. The short of it is, all paintball guns shoot the same range, with generally the same accuracy. The only way to increase range is using the Flatline or the Apex, but those decrease accuracy enough at range to negate the "one shot kill" advantage you might be hoping for. Since you have no range advantage, you can't really snipe. And before it's said: Hiding in the bushes and plinking at people is NOT sniping. That's what EVERY paintball should be doing... That said, let's move on to barrels. No matter what length of barrel you have, a paintball leaving your gun at 280 FPS will always go the same distance a paintball at 280 FPS will out of any other gun, Flatline and Apex aside. The longer the barrel, the more it negatively affects maneuverability. I'd stay stick in the 12" to 14" range. I favor 12". To increase accuracy, a lot of companies will tell you to replace the internals of your Tippmann. Don't bother. Aftermarket internals do little to nothing to improve accuracy, and are certainly not worth the cost. Only upgrade if you somehow manage to break something inside your Tippmann and it needs to be replaced. Even then, there's nothing wrong with the factory parts. The best way to gain accuracy, as far as a very non-aerodynamic object like a paintball is concerned, is to match or underbore paint to your barrel. This is achieved by a barrel kit with changeable bores. Also, if you really like one-piece barrels, quality aftermarket barrels will help over your stock barrel. 	A few years ago a guy on my team bought some sniper mods for his 98 from www.opsgear.com. I think they just have A5 mods now though. You could try Rap4 as well. Detrevni said the best barrels to make your gun shoot better. The secret is to keep your gun clean and oiled. Make sure your barrel is also completely clean. PRACTICE IS THE #1 KEY TO BETTER SHOOTING. Accuracy in the range is not accuracy in a game. I don't care if you can hit a quarter from 30 yards behind your house. You need to be able to shoot like that at exactly the right moment and while someone is shooting at you. Very few players can do this. I used to be the sniper in our group. The only way is to hide and wait for the other guys to get really close. You can't "out-range" someone. I got 2 sniper barrel taps in 7 years of paintballing. I wore regular hunting camo and had a 98 with a 14" barrel. Both my barrel taps were from people walking so close to me that I almost got stepped on.

	Though I'm with DT on this, you can make your marker more consistant. Once it's somewhat consistant, you can then learn to shoot it. Once you've learnt to shoot it, you then become more accurate. As Buh said above, practice.

	Oh yeah. I forgot about consistency, like TinMan said. Lower FPS variations lead to a more predictable shot, which translates to greater accuracy. Honestly, I'd try to dissuade you from trying to play "sniper." I think you can be MUCH more effective to your team as a standard shooter. Since paintball is much more fast-paced than actual war, you do not have the ability (within reason) to select camo to effectively match your surroundings, wait for hours to days in one spot for that perfect opportunity to eliminate a high-ranking target. That simply does not happen in paintball. You need to be able to move around and be placed where your team needs you quickly. You need to be able to lay cover when needed. You need to be able to draw fire when needed. If you focus on one role that is more romantic than practical, you will not be able to support your team when needed. As far as stealth goes, as I said earlier, EVERY paintballer should be trying to hide. Only a very few of us stand in the open trying to get shot. I'll admit, I do tend to be that guy sometimes. :) Anyway, be versatile. Don't focus on any position.

	thanks for all the help!!! oh yeah De Trevni i know there isnt really such thing as a sniper i just like to think of myself as one. lol but thanks again for all the help!
