I paid the property taxes for 2010, on a house valued at $315,000, and in the best of cases based on Caldwell Banker the house would list for $120,000 and I would be lucky to get $95,000. If I happened to be bound by a mortgage I would be chained to NY by the property being worth less than the balance of the morgage. I can see now how people can not move out of NY to start over if they have a mortgage, the values vs morgage balance is so off. And I am not eligable for tax credits on the home since I am not a perminant resident of NY.

We will not be fulltime in NY for three years, if then. I promised step daughter she could graduate high school out here in Lincoln, NE.
And did nayone catch the news story comparing Lincoln, NE with Madera, CA, a true comparison of midwestern fiscal responsibilty, and the CA overpricing and dependancy.

I don't know why these strange taxes are necessary now, the states fiscal problems are solved now with the whopping 6 million bucks saved with the parks closure!
