Carver One w/ Egrip

Hey guys,
Brand new to the sport, but we love it already.  Looking to get a gun and I have been looking for a couple of days.  I think I have settled on the Carver One.  I have read quite a bit about the other models/brands, but this seems to have what I am looking for - dependable, inexpensive, upgradeable, and readily available.

The question I have is that I just started noticing that they come in two models - w/Egrip and without.  I know what the Egrip is (I think) but am wondering if it is worth the upgrade?  Additionally, are there paintball fields that don't allow the use of Egrip guns?

Thanks in advance for any help.  I look forward to getting into the sport and eventually hopefully being able to help others with Noob questions like me :)

	I would recommend getting it with the e-grip. I have never run into a field that prohibits e-grips but have played fields where you might be limited to semi-automatic only. With the e-grip you can select the semi setting to comply with this rule and still have a slightly higher rate of fire than the players with mechanical markers due to the easier trigger pull on the e-grip. Additionally, while you may select to play on semi-automatic now, if you stay with the sport it is likely that you will eventually want a higher rate of fire. Other considerations: Getting an e-grip with the Carver will necessitate getting a faster hopper than the gravity fed one that comes with it. (This is a necessary added expense to avoid misfires/chopping.) Depending on rates of fire you use and weather you may also require an upgrade to compressed air to get the best performance from the Carver with the e-grip. Make sure you understand exactly how the various firing modes work before purchasing. (For instance, while I am not familiar with the Carver specifically, most Tippmann electronic triggers require three semi-automatic shots before the selected advanced mode actually kicks in.) I generally recommend playing for a while with rented/borrowed equipment to make sure you really like paintball enough to spend money on your own stuff. Edited by Mack - 29 August 2010 at 12:54pm

	Thanks for the quick reply! We have definitely decided to go to compressed air right off the bat as opposed to going with CO2. Everything we have read says that compressed air will yield more consistent results. What brand/model of hopper would you recommend? I am assuming you are talking about getting a motorized one. Any particular one that is better than another? Also - what size HPA tank should we get. I have seen them from 48CI to 72CI. From what I have read, it seems as though the larger you are, the bigger the tank you can handle. I am a fairly large guy - 5'10" and 230. I am leaning at 48CI. They have a few of them that are fairly inexpensive on AMAZON. I would assume that the other thing to consider is how long a tank will last between fills. I know that they will all be 3000 psi - regardless of size. However, a larger tank, will obviously hold more air. Any thought? Thanks again - this really is a great resource! 	Decided against the Egrip as my wife and son got the 98 Custom and Project Salvo respectively and I wanted us to all be pretty equal. We love the guns. Here are some pics of the Carver One with a Hammerhead barrel, foregrip and stock. Thanks for all of the advice. This forum is great!

	^^^ Cool. Someone really still needs to come out with an after-market stock modeled on the Beretta Storm though. Keep in mind when you all do decide to upgrade firepower that the Response Trigger is a viable option for your wife's 98 custom. (To the best of my knowledge, it isn't going to be available for the Carver. While it is available for the Salvo, a friend of mine is having a horrible time getting it to work* so at this point I can't, in good conscious, recommend it.) *I'm supposed to take a look at it later this month.

	Thanks Mack! We are heading out this weekend to "test" them all out. Though there are various boxes that my son has destroyed with them in the backyard - so I know they work :)
