I still can not work according to VA, last appointment and asking was tuesday, I am done according to them due to threat of stroke and blood clots. I know I am stretching the envelope with my activities but according to my primary care it is good I am staying active, but stay within your limits, she actually called my riding the dirt bikes 'good for me' in mind and body.
I still am repairing and upgrading airsoft guns, another lot of 4 showed today per UPS, not much money but keeps me busy. Once I get the new house set up I am going back to making furiture again, found a niche out here, New England styled wooden framed "Amish' living room sets. Will just custom make loveseats, sofas, chairs and gliders, and they will be sold in the raw, unstained, no cushions, so the customer can adapt to thier home color and style. I already have a request to make a 'mates' bed like on the old clipper ships. A wooden framed bed, attached footlocker at feet, small closet style locker at head and stretched rope suspention for mattress. Used to be the fastest seller when I did this back in the day, usually put out 5 a month part time. Just trying to stay busy and active, refuse to sit in a chair, take VA drugs and die. |

My dad and I have always talked about taking up woodworking or something similar after retirement / etc. Help stay busy and help make a few bucks. For now I'll keep working on paintball markers.
Are you going to offer any kind of finishing options to the customer? Might be worthwhile on your end depending on the skills of the customers you will be getting. You could just offer basic unfinished, and then tack on a finishing option with different stains available for some more money. Just a thought.

I wish I had any kinds of skills like that. I'm just shy of inept when it comes to building things at home. Kudos on being able to do cool stuff like that.

I know its not for everyone, but making things by hand is really really satisfying. Just tinker, you'll get better. |

Good for you. Thats what the bastages want, and shouldn't be given. I think old war horses should be allowed to work until they put someone else at risk. Surely a position in the armory would be acceptable. The furniture sounds great, and is an excellent way to take up the time. Have fun with it. |
