I am new to the forum and also new to paintball. I just bought a new A-5 the other day and now am looking to upgrade the barrel to get some more accuracy. I shot it today with stock setup and the balls had alot of curve to them. What are the best options for the money? I have seen several talking about J & J ceramic. What length is best choice?
Thanks,

J&J is what id reccomend, I love the 14" I have. Also, you might wana turn it down some if they are curving, if you have access to a crono is should be between 280-300 FPS. |

Generally speaking, the longer and more heavily ported the barrel is, the quieter and more accurate it is. long stainless steel or rifled barrels provide the best accuracy and flight path, but are quite expensive. A ceramic J&J, CP, or Lapco barrel is a solid starting point. I have a 16'' CP tactical barrel on my project salvo and it's dead accurate at 25 yards. For further reference, check this out:

Actually, that is incorrect and the article you linked here says as much. Extra barrel length or heavy porting doesn't add accuracy or distance. A good 12"-14" barrel with the right paint to bore match is your best bet to increase accuracy and depending on the marker, conserve propellant.[/QUOTE]

^^^ True. I will add that extensive porting can help quiet muzzle report but the only porting that has ever been believed to help with accuracy are a tight series of small ports near the muzzle.
