Since my last thread was locked thanks to Swinglish (Swiss English) and my idea of humor, I thought I'd start another.
TL/DR Here is what I do. I only get to play CODMW2 late at night, usually after 10 or 11 pm. Well after my kids are sleeping, I have to keep the volume down so as I don't wake them with the killing and maiming ( or in my case, getting killed and maimed). I like my own music track when I play. I put in my ear buds and listen to a variety of tunes as I merrily blast away or getting blasted. I'm listening to songs from AC/DC to Rhianna to Johnny Cash to the Ice-T. Oh throw in some death/thrash metal too. So, does any one else listen to music as they play any video game? |

Depends on the video game but usually I don't. Only time I can think of is sports games and I still don't listen to my own music all the time.
For COD, I use the ninja perk and listen for footsteps so music wouldn't help me at all. Edited by pntbl freak - 21 January 2011 at 1:50pm |

When I did PC gaming I used to do this alot. But since I've moved to consoles, I've never put in the effort to transfer my music on them. And like pntbl said, I like to be able to hear the footsteps and gunfire on CoD, so ear buds wouldn't be practical.

I don't since I won't even notice what is playing. If I'm playing a video game, my attention is on that.

If I'm playing COD I don't listen to music...maybe if Loveline is on or something is on WGN I'll be listening to the radio while playing...but I like to be able to hear people's footsteps and stuff in the game.
If I'm playing GTA or Skate or something like that I'll throw on some music and jam.

I do this, but it depends on the game.
Since most games I play are team oriented, it becomes counterproductive to have music on the whole time. If I'm walking through the woods in PR or Arma, I will normally switch something on, but if there's radio traffic or gunfire I'll turn it back off. |

Depends. If I'm doing casual gaming by myself, then I'll throw on my ipod and listen to whatever as I play. If I'm playing with friends/doing GBs, then I put my headphones on to hear the game/them talking.

I generally listen to the game itself. In forza, I'm far too concerned with how amazing my lamborghini engines sound to care about music, and in COD I'm busy listening to things going on around me.

I feel like I just read the same answer 9 times. I personally hate hearing gunfire and footsteps. I usually just listen to funny things from my Arnold Schwarzenegger sound board.

I sometimes do in games that aren't CoD or Forza. CoD, I need to hear gunfire and footsteps. Forza, I need to hear engine revs to help with shifts. Other than that, I often play listening to ESPN or music in the background.

COD etc. I listen to some music, especially if I have friends over and such. But when I am getting into the game the music is off so I can concentrate on punching people in the face with bullets. As for GT5 I am usually blasting music because I can usually race really well even if I can't hear the revs.

When I play BFBC2 I usually don't listen to music, I need to hear the guns and explosions and other people's footsteps. In Forza 3 I need to hear the engine revs and the shifts to play the game.

Any COD, or FPS for that matter I prefer to hear the game, but in a situation such as yours I do jam out. I stay away from the deathmetal tho

I remember thinking that it was the coolest thing that in GTA III that you could load your .mp3 files into the game, and the one radio station would play them in cycles when you got into a car.

I usually play music when I play Madden. No use in hearing Collinsworth all game. I rather hear Cudi and Kanye (Yes, I know. Madden - Cudi - Jersey; I'm uberhipster).
