Why do all the world's craziest people post on online newspaper comment sections? It seems every news article I read, even if its about a cat fashion show will have 90 people who respond in all caps and do nothing but rant about illegal immigrants, corrupt politicians, or how the system is in someway responsible for all the world's ills.

Yep.
I wonder if people would try to comment in a physical newspaper, like write in all caps below the article they just disagreed with. |

I don't understand why we even need to have the option to comment online. Similar to what HV said, what did these people do when they read physical news stories? Complain to the closest person?

![]() But seriously ya Zata is right usually they just complain to whoever will listen at least I know a few people who do that. Oh and I have seen letters to the editor printed about articles they didnt like that were pretty close to the stupid comments you get everywhere.

I love reading comments sections. It's weird for me, because generally I speed read and skim through articles ignoring alot of the filler, but then read the comments section detail for detail.
I made a couple of posts here recently about my irritation with the whole flood of right wing neocons that troll the comments sections. Somehow they manage to stick out among all the other crazies that inhabit those places. The worst offenders are on video game sites and YouTube though. YouTube in particular makes me lose faith in the human race, to the extent I've entertained the idea that all YouTube commenters are really just one sad, lonely idiot with hundreds of thousands of accounts arguing with himself to pass time in some dusty, rat infested basement. |
