No more blue mustang V6 for me. I got an offer to sell it and buy a 2010 GT premium with 19K miles for 22K.
My payments are lower than they were initially on my V6, and I'm still 4K below book on my GT. The best part? I needed something to give me credit (my cars were in my dad's name), so my folks' banker financed the loan in my name at 2% interest since the price of the car was so low. If I keep up my payments right I'll have it paid off in around 3 years and my credit score will look much better. I'll post pics when I get to a PC. Also, my supervisor is promoting me to lead on my shift, plus working around my college hours. I realize it's a small promotion, but to go from where I was last year to now is really humbling for me. I never thought I'd be happy to be royally exhausted, but I have to say it's a nice feeling. If this comes off as shameless self promotion, that's not my intention. But like the last thread I posted, I've come to realize that, if you wait out the crappy times long enough, life gets much better on its own. The car is a nice bonus, but even without it I'm happy just to feel like life can be good again. Anyways, post your good news or something. |

Nice deal on the new car. I'm glad for you that you are both working and going to school. What are you studying?

. . . is something I tell people a lot, but they never listen. *If you like young whipper-snapper sports cars that go too fast and make loud noises that scare senior citizens. |

The only thing is....
The 2010's got a crappy MPG 300hp 4.6 The 2011's got a 30 MPG 411hp 5.0! But all poking fun aside, nice trade in. I know you went through some tough times and I know it is always nice to kick back once in awhile and realize everything is going alright.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
This is the car- ![]()
Haha, believe it or not, this was my main motivation for buying the car. You can buy 2010's with no miles for practically nothing. They're on eBay for like 22K with 4K miles. That's a steal if you're a fan of this bodystyle, which I am. I pretty much just wanted the exhaust note (if you've never driven one of the 2010+ GT's, you owe yourself to do so just for the sound, they tube the exhaust up through the body so you get this great inside-the-cabin exhaust note), the leather, and the stereo. The power is nice, but I'm one of those people who sticks to the speed limit like glue and usually ends up drifting below it listening to music and relaxing. As far as the power, the 305 horses are plenty for what I want. From everything I've read it'll still pull a very respectable mid 13 second quarter mile time, and the handling / acceleration are fantastic. The new 5.0's are nice, but the price jump is kind of crazy considering you're still just getting a stroked out 4.6 and not a real 302 (the new GT's start at 30K as opposed to 27K the year before). If I were in the market for a new car, which I don't think I ever will be again, I'd go with that new V6 mustang. 310 horsepower, motortrend took it to 13.7 quarter mile time (they did mine at a 13.5), and most reports I've read give it about 28-30 MPG on the highway. I average around 24 according to my guage, which is a heck of a lot better than my last GT did
It's definitely one of those lessons you learn the hard way without choice. Stress is a tough thing to cope with, and half the battle is realizing the vast majority is in your mind. I've known people that hit rock bottom, far below anywhere I've ever been, and come back up to live great lives. It's really tough to break through the fog of negativity and look at the long run of things. I'm a believer that, for at least 80% of the population, just living in this country sets us far and above even the luckiest of civilations the earth has seen. That's worth something in and of itself. Laying it on kind of thick there, but I've come to realize that I spent most of my life worrying about what-if's when the right-now was pretty awesome. I've never exactly lived a hard life outside of my own imagination. |

I've never really worried about what-ifs. My theory has always been that you can't really control the future and you do the best you can with the stuff you can control (planning for worst cases, etc.) then let it happen. If the worst does happen, it's generally not something you could have prevented and you wasted your time and energy worrying about something you couldn't change anyway and if it doesn't, then you've wasted time and energy worrying about something that didn't happen.
Congratulations to you too . . . . . . thread hijacker. |

Grats sir. I'm still a couple of years off from getting a bachelor's, I haven't even begun to think of what my career will entail. I try not to think about it :P |

So . . . not only does the job pay well, but it helps you with limiting expenditures as well.
Win/win. |
