Hello,

I am looking for a paintball rifle with good range, at least 100 yds, fairly accurate, easy to use, with enough punch so if i do manage to hit something it will remember it and does not cost a fortune to buy/operate?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Texas Granny.

100 yards? Not going to be effective. There are quite a few threads in this forum you can search for that will cover range and accuracy.  In short, you will have one but not the other.

First off. Bumping your thread after only 10 minutes isnt typically going to get you a faster answer. There just arent that many people on here during the day. Second, when playing all paintball markers should be chronoed at the same FPS (feet per second) both for fairness and safety. Typically this is 300FPS or under. This negates your desire for a marker that hits harder than another.Shooting at anything over 300FPS is considered usafe so that will not be discussed here.

As for accuracy at 300ft, you will be very hard pressed to find this sort of accuracy in a paintball marker shooting round paintballs. There are some barrels that increase range, but even well tuned, they do not produce pinpoint accuracy by any stretch of the imagination.

With that said, there is a type of paintball called a First Strike round. They are essentially a paintball with fins on it. There have been some examples of people getting some previously unheard of accuracy at longer ranges with them. However, unless you want to muzzle load them, you have to get a marker either specifically designed to shoot these or one modified to do so. Tippmann does not currently make any markers that support FS rounds. There are some markers out now that do. Spyder makes a couple that are capable of doing so, Dye has come out with the DAM, and Tiberius also makes one.

Good luck.

30meters, 95feet is your 'best' range, optimal range for those of us who have played the game is usually in the 20m range. Yes, you can hit further, with a 'howitzer' arc, but consistantly...NO. You are dealing with nothing more than a smoothbore 'musket' with all the problems therein with a muzzle velocity of only 300fps.

Basically at range your 'accuracy' circle is in the 3-6feet range, meaning that the liquid filled ball will hit somewhere in that circle.

As for hitting 'harder' you do miss the concept of the game with that one.

Just a heads up a .45ACP at approx 800ft per second at 100yards is an 'if' shot, let alone accurate.

What you're asking for doesn't exist.

You'd be lucky to have enough velocity left behind the ball at a 100 yards range that it would break at all.
There are too many 'physics' factors contributing to this. A paintball just isn't designed to travel that far, fast enough, and accurately enough to be effective.

Even maximizing your velocity on the marker wouldn't do the trick, and it would make it dangerous inside of normal operating and play ranges.

Only thing that gets out there 125 feet and breaks. It's the SAR12 shooting first strikes.

oldpbnoob -

When you get as old as I am every minute counts, believe me.

Next - I never said that I was going to use the marker at a paintball area. In all honesty my 10 year old great grandson suggested it as a way of dealing with the dang 4 legged varmints that keep tearing up my gardens, heck most of my rose bushes are surrounded by cactus now, but just once i would like to can my veggies instead of feed those walking flea-bags.

I don't want to eliminate them, otherwise I use pa's 30-06, I just want to persuade them to look elsewhere for another buffet. I have hollered at them, squirted them with a garden hose, thrown golf balls at them and tried all the all pest products as the market and nothing works, but i figured that if i pop them suckers in backside often enough they well get the message.

^^^Sling Shot Granny! I used a wrist rocket with paintballs to put down a squirrel up rising in my Mother's tomatoe garden some years back and that worked great! Although my Mother thought she was seeing things one morning telling us she had seen a "blue and green squirrel" running along the fence.

A have-a-heart trap would be cheaper and more effective. Trap 'em, drive em, let 'em go.

Or a good old fashioned 1200fps 'pellet' rifle in .177 or .22.
