Ok... so I looked at my A-5's insides and was wondering why people polish the insides??? It's already polished! I saw no overspray whatsoever, and couldn't see why polishing it even more would gain any benefits. So why is evryone taking steel wool and sand paper to their guns?

Well, I don't know about the "steel wool and sand paper" part, but the act of "polishing" the internals can be as simple as spraying Rain-X or Car Wax inside.  The whole purpose is to reduce the friction as much as possible and to make cleaning the marker easier.  A gunked up A5 will show a huge drop in velocity without a good cleaning.  The polishing reduces the amount of air needed to charge and fire the marker.  It's like pushing a couch on your rug.  If it's got wheels on it, it's a whole lot easier.

that's the thing- it's oiled. I almost dropped the sear bolt when I took it out 'cause it was oiled. Everyone says there's overspray from the gun getting painted by Tippmann but there isn't. Oiling the gun should be sufficient, right?

That is all that the marker needs, yes.   The polishing part is just to make it a little nicer and, in essence, to give us something to do.  The overall benefit will not be noticed if you keep it clean and oiled.

you are very lucky in your lack of overtspray.  mine looked like it was ment to be paintbaed on the inside.  when i used steel woll to polish the internals it made the gun cycle faster and much quieter.
