I am thinking about getting a new 68/4500 Crossfire tank. In some reviews and posts that I have seen all over the internet, I have heard that nitro tanks lose their air over a period of time when they are just sitting. Sometimes even just overnight. Is this true, or did they just have a leaking tank? Also, does a CO2 tank lose its gas just by sitting for a while?
Thanx |

I'm not sure about nitro because I dont own a nitro tank. But Co2 does not leak, unless your tank is defective.

No. Nitro definatley does not leak unless something is wrong with your tank. I have that exact tank and have never had 1 problem. |

They do lose air capacity if you store it empty. Water will get in and take up space.

Some tanks, like nitroduck, SOMETIMES lose air over time due to the way the fill nipple works. This can happen with any tank, but i have heard it happens most often in NitroDuck tanks. I own a NitroDuck and couldnt be happier with it, it doesnt leak, but maybe i got lucky.
Also, if it does leak, a replacement fill nipple is only about $20, so it is a cheap fix. |

My dad is an engineer and just knows these kinds of things. In the army they had many BIG Co2 tanks for different types of "Metal Work" on the tanks it said "Do not empty tanks prior to storage." You don't have to believe me, but it's true. |

it is true, because the same thing happens with scuba/scott tanks(firefighter tanks-fiberwraped) and although the tanks are used for different things... they all hold the same thing... and regs work the same way. |

this is where your wrong, yes over a period of time the nitro's psi does lower. even over like an over. This isnt becuase theres a leak. See when you go a refill your nitro tank, it gets hot right? well when you get your tank fill to like 4200 by your proshop it warm, and when it cools down, some of the psi vapors away, so you'll have about 4000. Thats why my proshop give top ups, they fill your tank to 4200, wait like 5 mins, fills it again when it cools down so you can get all you can get from your nitro tank. |
