Yes, it's a good gun. You might be just as well off finding someone selling off their barely-used 2003, too. As far as air supply (insert 80's band joke here ), definitely go nitro. CO2 in a current AutoCocker seems to have an adverse effect on the pneumatics. Mine "freezes up" when using CO2... which I only do when screwing around with it in the basement.

EDIT - economically speaking, a 2003 might be the better buy. Case in point: I got a 2003 Outkast for somewhere in the $300 range a couple months ago. Less than a case through it, too.

i would just get a 2K3 vf instead of the 2K4. with the extra money u can buy a good nitro tank (crossfire low pressure) and a better reg like an ergo or a custom products.  pump scout noted the 2K3 outkast which i think would be a better buy. and the tickler the outkast comes with is really nice and i find timing outkasts' is easier for me then timing the 2K3 or 2K4. and if u buy a used autococker, ask them wut they did with their ram cause i bought a used 2K3 once and my ram snapped after about 2 hoppers of slow shooting.

Just about everything on Cockers can be tinkered with... or messed up beyond belief if the old owner didn't know what they were doing. Basically, when you get your gun, leave it alone as long as it works. If something breaks, have someone replace it that knows what they're doing.

Also, a Cocker can be built entirely from aftermarket parts. For the most part, what WGP puts on a Cocker is going to be good stuff, and made to run well with the rest of the gun. If Bud Orr put it on the gun, you can pretty much trust it, since when he plays, he takes a Cocker off the rack, no extra parts. Yes, there's a ton of parts out there that are flashy and expensive, but as long as your gun works, it's usually best to leave it alone.
