heres my situation: ive been reading a lot of stuff about paintball and i want to get into it. i want to get a gun but am undecied on the a5 or 98c. im only 14 and dont have a lot of money. ive convinced my parents to pay for half of a 98c as an early christmas gift. (wonder if i can get them to pay for the whole thing if i wait till christmas?) what i want to know is is it worth it to wait till i get sum more money and buy an a5 myself at the beggining of next season and have no money left for upgrades or should i get the 98c now and have money for a new barrel ect. i would just get the 98c coz i wana play woodsball but ive read the posts on speedball and tourneys and that sounds like a lot of fun and i know i cant do any of that with a 98c.
p.s. i did use the search but it wasnt the same situaiotn |

Why can't you use a 98c in SB ? Get the 98c so you can get ups for it. |

They are both great guns , I got the 98c myself and upgraded a few things with the money that was saved , see my sig , the 98C can be a great SB and Woodsball gun , I got mine all decked out for woodsball (in my case desert ) , but so far , I've played 100 % speedball with it , had it less than a year , and too hot in Arizona right now to play outdoors all day . Whatever you decide upon , get it , play with it stock , get to know your gun , and what you'd like to see improved on it before you spend any money on upgrades , then get the ones that YOU determine will help your game the most !! Gonna be LOTS of 98C's in the Tippmann World Challenge this fall , LOL Welcome to the forums Edited by Shadowminion |

id what im about to say,
I bought a 98C, mask, 20oz, Teardrop 12 barrel, harness, paintballs. After that i learned my gun, how to clean it, how to play, so on. After i got better, about 1 year later i bought an A5, im TIPPMANN ALL THE WAY, i love em and would never use anything else. So thats what i suggest. Hope it helps (use the 98custom as an opener to pb. and then in a year or so... go for an A5) Jackal PS, who said you need a 500$ gun + afew hundred in upgrades to have fun. A 98 is all you need for starting, my set up is OK for speedball i cant shoot super fast but thats why tipp. has RT or eletric bolts/grips. Edited by Jackal14 |

Yes, go with 98c. I dont know how durable the A-5 is, but the 98c is very durable. It is also very reliable. With a few good upgrades, you can be hanging with the best in speedball. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Well if your short on cash i would go for the 98c mainly because with some extra money you can upgrade it to be just as good as the A5, plus when i looked at the A5 it seems all your paying for is an automatic hopper just go for the 98c

A-5 already has the same if not more ups than the 98c plus it has a built in automatic hopper built in verticle adaptor field strip option front side cocking (pull once the lever dosent move again) lighter triggerpull quick change barrel adaptor.

i would go with the 98 custom because if you didnt know the a-5 has something called a cyclone feed whichwill increase its rate of fire but is a big thing on the side of the gun that makes a big target. the 98 c is a great starter gun and as you customize it and upgrade it it will be a great gun.

You actually can use a 98c in speedball. if I can use a Pro-lite , You can certinally use a 98custom. I have a 98custom and I love it. The a-5 is good to but I prefer my 98c.
