When I took my 98c apart, I noticed a little hole in the top of the rear bolt.  The hole is where there is a spot for the linkage arm to hook into the bolt (on the top of the bolt) and this hole goes all the way into the bolt, meaning I can see light shinning through the top of the bolt.  Is this supposed to be there?

I dont think you follow me, it like a pin sized hole.  If I took my gun apart and took out the aluminium (due to how light it is I doubt its steel) rear bolt insert piece from the rear bolt, I could see light shinning thru, but just barely.  Its a very very small hole and I wonder if its supposed to be there or not.  I realize the main (larger) hole on top is supposed to be there to insert the linking arm.

Thanks

ummm, mine isnt like that and they aint made that way. there should be a total of 3 holes in the fully assembled rear bolt. one for the linkage arm, one for the cocking knob, and one for the drive spring. if u have more holes than that call tippmann and replace it

well the hole the linkage arm goes into, it goes all the way thru , and it looks like it was damaged to do this, not on purpose.  Meaning, the hole was too deep and some wear and tear caused it to go thru. IDK

Thanks again

you shouldn't have a problem with this. The rear bolt o-ring keeps air from getting back that far, and the linkage arm has a channel molded into the receivers, so it won't move up or down during use.

What it might be is that Tippmann drills the hole for the linkage arm clear through before they mill the sear stop. That way, the bolt can be placed one of two ways and therefore cut down the time needed to place the rear bolt in the milling machine.

It's the linkage arm hole. It's used to cock your gun.
