Which is better the 98C (out of the box) or the Kingman Spyder Rodeo(out of the box)?

He-he , Yer ona Tippmann forum , my 98c has been a Very servicable speedball marker , its very reliable , and with the stock barrel , semiaccurate (I polished the internal bore of my stock barrel with scotchbrite , it helped a LOT !! )

I have never shot the rodeo , so I cant say there , but my wife got a Spyder Imagine (electronic trigger with ISI ?) the same time I got my 98c , and of the two , I still prefer my 98 .

I didnt like the trigger pull on either gun , the 98 was harder to pull than it needed to be, and quite a bit of travel, but some No cost mods found on Model98.net solved that for the Tippmann , and I reworked the trigger on the spyder , almost to a bounce-able condition .

I'd have'ta go with the 98 , is the rodeo a mechanical trigger ? if so , Definitely the tippy then , the trigger was way worse on the spyder than the stock set up on 98's

SL68-II , micro honed and polished .688" bore . Tuff Enuf .
Widowmaker , under construction

the rodeo has a mech trigg, there is an e-frame version, don't remember what it is called.

if you want a general tip (meaning not 100% accurate all the time but generally accepted):

Rodeo/Spyder in general = better for speedball. smaller length and more of a flashy style, as well as a stock dblfinger trigger will get you ready to speedball. Can be used in woods, but usually do not camouflage very well (unless you can make custom covers out of an old camouflage jacket...). Also very easy to take apart, just pull two pins and you are ready for everything to fall out the back.

98c/Tippmann in general =  better for woodsball or scenario play. Designed to last forever, can usually take hits better from diving into trees and stumps. More elongated design, more like a real rifle, can be modded like crazy to even look like a real rifle. Usually have trouble on smaller courses in staying tucked in due to larger size. In order to dissasemble (at least the 98c), you must remove screws and pull apart the two clamshells. Takes max of 2 mins, but you can't do it on the field.

I know that these are more like guidlines for what you want, hope they help!

spyders are usually better right out of the box, they have pretty good stock barrels and come with a bunch of half ass upgrades lol.

I wouldn't get the rodeo though, instead id go for an e-spyder like the imagine.

Good luck. A tippy would would be better for woodsball, IMO, than a rodeo. The main reason eing the 98c is durable and reliable and doesnt need constant maitenence.

I'd get the 98c over the rodeo anyday, for any game.

Well, out of the box it is a tossup. We can debate all day which is better.

However,

A year from now the Tippmann will still be working, like the day you bought it.

A year from now the Spyder will be worn out, replacing the O-rings will not fix it, the plastic in the handle will be brittle and break when you pick it up. In short, you will be looking for another marker.

The Tippmann is better quality.  The spyder shoots faster.

get the tippy for woodsball. the spyder isn't as durable like stated above, but is better for speedball out of the box
