Hey, me and my friends love taping things with a camcorder.  Is it possible to convert this VHS to digital so we can have them on the computer?  What do you need to do this?  Thanks.

You can buy a "bridge" where you plug the cables (white, yellow, red) into that, which goes into your computer, then converts it to digital. They can be a bit pricey. If you have a digital camcorder, or a friend with one, you can convert it straight from camera-computer.

You can get an adequate video capture card for around $50, or less. I've also seen some USB interfaces for video capture.
Just connect your VCR or camcorder to the video capture card/box via RCA connector, install the software, and you are ready to go. Very simple, and not too expensive, if you don't need really high quality.

Any cheap card that can can handle stereo audio should be fine.

I haven't had a capture card in awhile, so I can't really recommend one.

if you can get your hands on a digital camcorder you can do it with ease. VHS to mini-DV or digital 8, from there to the computer via DV cable. If you can borrow someones it could potentially be free.

Problem is you'll lose some quality...but if your recording onto VHS is not really a big deal. The worst is going from something broadcast quality like mini-DV to VHS...just kills it in my opinion.

is this what I should get?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3 761&item=5119278462&rd=1

If so, does this include all thats needed to do this?

also, where does this card go?  It doesnt use the same slot a video card uses, right?
