The other day while trying to close out about 30 popups, I accidentally clicked one. Needless to say, my computer is now infected with spyware. I have one of those search homepages and I can't get rid of it. Spybot isn't working for me with this one. I'm not much of a computer person. How can I fix this?

Get a new browser. Mozilla Firefox, or Avant are good. ALso clear cookies, history, and delete files. Finally get Adaware too, it works good with Spybot.

Yeah, I would agree with you, go with something higher quality, and yeah, use mozilla or something... and stop searching sites with 30 popups

I used mcafee, and i got a virus/spyware/whatever while it was suposedly protecting my computer. I tried to do a virus scan, and still no good. My spyware puts up a bogus searchpage, puts that searchpage in front of my normal pages when i click on something every now and then, and says that it is making some kinda plugin. It also creates a new connection all of the time and boots me off of the net. I have lost many HUGE posts because i was kicked off of the net. I'm gonna try to restart the computer completely if i have to. Im talking about making it just like it was when we bought it. I have tried deleting the programs that the spyware or whatever is coming from, but it just keeps creating that file again. I am in dire need of help so i don;t have to restart the whole computer!

1. Ad-Aware 2. Google Toolbar 3. Go to Control Panel, then Internet Options, then Delete Cookies, and Delete Files and check Offline Content. If you have Norton, run WinDoctor, or go to My Computer, Right click on a HD and select properties, and click on the First Check now, click yes and restart your PC. And avoid Porno/Wares sites, or sites which seem wierd. And if you have Kazaa/Bit Torrent or equevelent, then hit yourself in the face, re-install Windows and never do that **** again. Avant and Firefox have pop up blockers, why waste 30 bucks on one. They just slow your comp down.

Your funny...Sandman thought that was a joke...also I bought a pop up blocker, not sure which one, but i will find out this week at my dads. When it stops a pop up, it slows the comp down for a good couple of seconds, and with Avant and Firefox, it just stops them and doesnt cause any slowdown. Maybe with the pop up blocker you use, it doesnt do that, but with the one i bought it does that... |
